From the company website:

It’s official: beginning May 25, 2006, we will begin two daily non-stop JetExpress flights between Denver and Calgary, Canada, our Rocky Mountain neighbor to the north. Frontier will be the first low cost carrier to fly to the Great White North.

As Jeff Potter said in this morning’s press release, “Frontier is proud to be the first American low cost carrier to fly to Canada, and we are confident that Calgary, which has long been underserved for low fares and excellent service to the US, will fast become a top market for Frontier.”

Senior Manager Corporate Communications Joe Hodas held a press conference in Calgary this morning, where Deputy Mayor of Calgary, Gord Lowe, welcomed Frontier with a traditional “white hat welcome,” designating Frontier as honorary Calgary citizens for life.

Frontier will depart Denver for Calgary every day at 8:15 a.m. and 9:25 p.m., and will fly from Calgary to Denver at 6:30 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.
Here I was, all excited, and it is Jet Express. Hopefully the market is big enough to go mainline soon.

I guess Mr. Potter from Frontier doesn't believe USAirways is a low cast carrier.

If he did, he would be wrong. America West maybe, but not US Airways.

Umm...and WestJet. Canadian LCC that hubs in YCC and flies all over the warmer parts of the U.S. including Hawaii.

I believe the media was talking about US low cost carriers. It would be obvious to even the simplest of minds that a Canadian LCC called WestJet would already serve Canadian markets.

Yeah it is.

Perhaps that is to act as a feeler and determine if it will support a larger aircraft.
