freedumb is becoming part of Mesa ...

freedumb is becoming part of Mesa as we speak. It is part of Mesa Air Group. The Mesa pilots are allowed to bid over to freedumb. The hiring is done by Mesa and the hiring is mostly from Mesa Airlines' own feeder schools. There have been very few street hires at Mesa, and it doesn't look like its going to change anytime soon.

I really don't think that many people off the street would work for MESA anyway. I hope Freedom gave you guys at Mesa a taste of what you have been giving the W/O's for the past several years.

There are plenty of places to go to work right now. Dont think that just because the economy is bad you have to sacrifice your dignity and integrity to go to work for a scab commuter.
In fact the way the airline industry is trending with the expansion at the regional level, this is a pretty good time to get in.

Freedom air is based on the same old B-scale philosophy that airlines used to be before unions had an impact. The last thing we need are more airlines that require pay for training or are a B-scale way of screwing our other brothers that work right next door for basically the same airline. The whole reason for Freedom Air is that the management doesnt want to pay reasonable wages to the pilots in a contract, so they start up a new airline and pay s*@t wages.

Think of it this way. Go to work for Freedom Air and jeapordize your chances of moving up in a career. I wouldnt hire someone that prostituted themselves for that kind of job.

Nothing personal, just make the right choices.

'Getfurloaded' is talking about what Freedom used to be until they were merged into the Mesa list. Please go to the above thread to see why Freedom isn't like this anymore.

Freedom is now just a certificate with Mesa's -700's and '900's on it. What it used to be is something much different ('Getfurloaded's coments), something eerily similar to what Republic might soon be.

What a bunch of uniformed Dumb ass, i was a no voter, with that being said Mesa is still a good airline to work for(a lot of movement) if you dont get stuck in a TP!!!

I stand corrected

Although I will say that I stand corrected about the Freedom Air comment, my opinion still remains the same.

Freedom Air was forced to merge the seniority list with Mesa as part of their new agreement, so you will be not subject to a b-scale airline. Although what does that say about your management? I know several pilots that have worked for Mesa Airlines in the past, and not one of them had anything good to say about that company. (that doesnt mean the pilots arent good guys)

Make an informed decision about where you want to go to work. The days of having to beg for a job and do anything to work are over. Unless you want to go back to pay for training and the mentality that used to exist: "well I gotta do what I gotta do to log my hours."

Consider the fact that many people in the industry went to regionals just to build time upgrade and get out. Now many of them are stuck there as a career. Choose a commuter that treats you decent enough that if you had to stay there you could tolerate it.

Thats all I am saying.

If you are trying to get a regional job and don't have competitive time take what you can get.

If you are competitive look for a regional that will treat you well. You may be there for 5 - 10 years or more as an FO. If Mesa is the only one offering, take it.

Later on, after you have had time to talk to other pilots from the various regionals and guage them, you can move on from Mesa.

I switched from Trans States to ACA and have no regrets. ACA has treated me well, TSA had good people but crappy owners(HK). The downside to working for sub par companies is the increased chance of getting violated or the company hanging you out to dry with the FEDs.

One of my Captains at TSA had the chief pilot go after him, accusing him of striking a taxi light with a prop. It was a bird strike, and the airport showed him the bird. He was eventually cleared but it was an ordeal, the union saved his butt. You get the idea.
