There are dorks that are pilots that have gone thru all sources of education / flight training. I don't think you can peg someone as a dork just because they graduated from ERU.

And again, his web site was diverse enough to show him in a helicopter. I give him credit for that. I think a lot of the flaming is directed at his enthuasim for flying.. something that seems to be lacking amongst many folks here.

$$$4Nothin....since you mentioned, I'd second you for the tool award.

How can one fault someone for being enthusiastic about flying? Isn't that why most everyone started? I'd agree, that seems to be lacking. I'm sure plenty of people wish they could just go back to the "nothing to worry about" lifestyle they had.....

Speaking of drinking Kool-aid, I think you've been drinking a bit lately too. Believe every bit of that "Everyone from Riddle, UND, etc, is Dumb" line they feed you there? I know several people from those schools that have went through training there, and passed very successfully. How many "lines" have you flown? I know where you're at now, and you may have that one experience, but you need to get some more info before you make yourself an expert witness..."I've been flying the line, I know the real rep" (What did you ever do to improve that reputation? Bashing it certainly doesn't help. You spent a lot of money there, I would think you would want to help improve that reputation.)

No matter what school you go too, you will find tools, at Riddle you find Aviation Geeks, go to MIT, you find some engineering geeks, and so on....You shouldn't fault those who are enthusiastic about a career.

Hey Matt, don't worry about what anyone else says. Get a degree, get some quality experience (Instructing, Freight, Whatever trips your trigger) and you'll do fine.

Thanks to you guys for the news, knowledge, and words. It's always nice to hear from people well involved in the industry to see how things are going. Thanks for that.

Also, I can't believe what I'm hearing as far as the old tuition rates go. It costs something like $850 per credit now and every fall it goes up between 10% and 16%. They don't even keep returning students at the rate they started at anymore. It goes up like 4% or something for returning students every fall. Luckily flight costs have stayed relatively constant in my time here.

Oh well. Happy holiday weekend everyone. Hope it's going well.

Why does this board continue to attract people that want to fight and cause harm to people?

Dude, just chill out. No need to get worked up about it. 95% of the people on the board don't give a rats ass about your website or will remember your name. Just keep on truckin' along and get your stuff done so you can keep moving on to the next level. If you worry about what every tom dick and harry thinks about you, then you'll drive yourself crazy. Just chill out, be a dude, drink a brew, and keep on with your goals.

I wrote an article thingy for another website about how I got to where I am now (regionals) to help motivate younger pilots with similar goals and give some ideas about how to better prepare yourself. Most of the guys and gals at my company got a hold of it and were raggin' me about it for weeks. Whatever, I know it's in good fun. Half the people who were raggin' me about it are really great pilots and are fun to fly with. Even more fun to party with on the overnights. I didn't take it personal, and neither should you.

Flychicaga,

I haven't read your article, but I'm sure we share the same views.

If a young, inexperienced pilot (with all the ratings) goes into a new job w/ an attitude of being humble, willing to learn, and a casual, cool, and a profesional attitude......they will learn, grow, excel and have respect from their co-workers.

I don't care how many hrs or ratings are in your L-book, cocky attitudes do not belong in a professional flight crew.

My thoughts,
SCT
