ohhh.
I remember GWB's first prez run, CSPAN ran coverage of his fund raiser. There was a video shot of GWB jr, GHWBsr, and another guy huddled together, arms over each other's shoulders laughing and yukking it up. Wanna know who the third guy was? Frank Lorenzo, "longtime family friend and advisor"
Whodathunk?

Bush, the airline pilot advocate!!

Taken from his bio on savoycap's website: what a joke!

The chairman of Savoy is Francisco A. "Frank" Lorenzo. Prior to founding the firm, Mr. Lorenzo was chief executive and control shareholder of Continental Airlines and predecessor companies for eighteen years. Under Mr. Lorenzo's leadership, the airline grew from 8 jets and $73 million in revenue, to 325 aircraft and revenue in excess of $5 billion. Mr. Lorenzo played an active role in the U.S. aviation industry after its deregulation in 1978, having engineered the acquisition and turnaround of several carriers and being responsible for the start-up of the first post-deregulated airline, New York Air. Mr. Lorenzo holds an undergraduate degree from Columbia College and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

I think I'm going to puke...

That may be, but who did Frankie turn to when he needed help, along with getting deregulation pushed through? None other(s) than those champions of labor Ted Kennedy and Maxine Waters. This is the kind of stuff that makes me think the politicians are all in it together despite alleged party differences.

That is True. There was another champion of deregulation, his name was Dick ? (I loaned out my copy of Hard Landing so I am without reference). Dick worked with Maxine, and Ted and pushed hard for deregulation. After that Dick teamed up with Lorenzo and if I recall Ran CAL or EAL. In any event the Irony was that Dick was struggling with airfare wares, labor issues and reservation computer battles with Bob Crandal. Petzinger (Hard Landing Author) articulated the irony well. Dick was facing the monster that he created.

Commentary.

Democrats and Republicans are both industrial/corporate fence riders. Almost all of the top corporations give money to BOTH parties so they can assure their plans in any regime. Deregulation was inevitable in a capitalistic society

There it is. Big Bush supporter. Wouldn't be too surprised to see this guy back in aviation considering the current political climate. Pulled that info off Fundrace.org in case you're interested in who your neighbor supported.
