Fox reported an American airlines Airbus had a full hydraulic failure and would be landing in 45-50 minutes. At that time, the plane landed, gear down, spoilers extended, and reversers activated. No problems noted on landing. Geese...what is up with these Fox folks. If they ever catch a crash on video that will make there day!

American Flight From Puerto Rico in "FULL HYDRAULIC FAILURE"

Quick...somebody get a private pilot on TV to clear this whole mess up for us.

Yeah, they are on it! Sounds just as bas as Miles on CNN. "When you have full hydraulic failure, you can't even put the landing gear down." Comparing this to Sioux City was rather funny.
 
I liked the comment from the "expert" that airplanes now days can't dump fuel. Guess we all of a sudden got rid of a lot of airplanes that I wasn't aware of.

It really would be nice to put some limits on what the media can report. If they know not what they are talking about they should keep their mouths shut. You know freedom of the press was established when? Over 200 some years ago? It took several weeks to get info from the east coast to the west coast, now it goes around the world in seconds. There are some things the general public just has no business knowing about. And how does the media even find out about this crap. Do they monitor ATC 24/7 in hopes of hearing something about trouble with an airliner. It makes me think long and hard about how I would describe particular malfunctions so as not to create a scene with the media. It's ashame these media vultures have me thinking about my wording during an inflight irregularity just to keep them away.
 
Did the crew come from a PFT program? That would have a major effect on the outcome.

No, because the captain would have flown right seat for well over 1000 hours before upgrading, making him just as competent as any "regular" captain.

The A300s can't dump fuel. The chute is still there, but the capability went away with the Flight Engineer.
 
Are there any 2 pilot planes that can dump fuel? I sure am heartened by my ability to jettison a lot of weight on the 727 if we were to have an engine failure on takeoff at MGTOW. It seems like a safety issue to me not to have it.

Understand, but my post was that the "expert" said that airplanes now days can't dump fuel. I guess you need to tell the Delta crew that I heard on the radio a few months ago that they couldn't dump fuel. Maybe the Northwest crew a month or so ago needs to go back to training so they will know that airplanes no longer dump fuel. Anybody fly a Lear 35 today?...wait, no airplanes fly today can dump fuel.

I know...kinda sarcastic, but my point was being sarcastic about the report of the incident. The media reported that airplanes that fly today can't dump fuel. If I wasn't an aviation enthusiast (spelling?), I would think that no airplane in the air today could dump fuel because of his report. He didn't say that Airbus can't dump fuel.
