Majors and others require Part 1 PIC.

FAR Part 1 defines the pilot-in-command as follows: "Pilot-in-command means the person who:

1. Has the final authority and responsibility for the operation and safety of the flight;

2. Has been designated as pilot-in-command before or during the flight; and

3. Holds the appropriate category, class, and type rating, if appropriate, for the conduct of the flight."

This CFIse guy has got to be jerking with you guys. Nobody is possibly that stupid.

A pilot logs time because they have plans of moving on. Who cares how this guy can justify it to be PIC time. Nobody interviewing him is going to accept it so he won't get the job.

If he truely belives he has a chance of getting on somewhere by logging his time as such then he really is that stupid. It will probably won't be the only reason he doesn't pass the interview.

You are never going to win the argument with this guy. He is obviously smarter than everyone else. (At least he thinks so)

Nobody is confused about the hiring minimums, the question is about LOGGING PIC.

If all you have in your logbook as PIC is FAR Part 1 PIC then good for you, but I really doubt thats the case.

To the best of my knowledge nobody has argued that the time is or should be acceptable towards hiring minimums. It isn't, and most companies make that clear on their application. That's ENTIRELY unrelated to the issue of can it be logged.

If *YOU* have no PIC time logged in your logbook that does not meet the FAR Part 1 requirements then you are a rare pilot - most people log according to FAR Part 61.51. I'll bet you do to.
