Yep its cold... 3 feet of snow per year not per day and quite frankly, 2 cold winters (which most handle no problem), is well worth the 70K I saved! Girls are the best looking here....merely the fact that we have more than 2 on campus is nice, and trust me, they don't layer inside....

Do you really want to put the girls of UND up against Illinois, Auburn, and Purdue? Not the aviation girls only...but the college itself?

We're talking about Big 10Eleven and SEC dude.....you need to visit some other campuses....campie? hehe...I said pie.

Purdue... PLEASE GIVE ME A BREAK!!! While none of the chicks met the landwhale classification, none that I saw were a 10 and the 9's were few and far between.

Illinois had hotties, but I only met them off campus at an invite only party. I doubt I got a represntive sample because the lowest rating at the party was a 7.

Auburn, never been there.

And to the ERAU person that didn't like the idea of icing in a cessna, it does just fine :D Just keep the airspeed up.

I agree with bobbysamd. I was a little surprised myself during my time in Prescott to see so many former military guys, and not so many former airline guys, teaching on campus. And the majority of the flight line staff (the regular line IP's) were just kids a few years older than myself, mostly following the natural progression of the career. They would trickle out to the various regionals out there, kind of in spurts it seemed. For awhile, it was CoEx (alot of the flight team guys did the PFT thing), then Mesa, then Transtates, then Mesaba, and finally ACA. ACA was the place to go at the end of my time there (but I did not go there myself). I'm sure most of them had the same attitude as anybody. At that time (mid to late 90's), everybody was hiring, and the prevailing attitude was, "who cares, I'll only be there 2 or 3 years before United/Delta/TWA/etc picks me up...".

Personally, I enjoyed my experience at Riddle and I think it was a good place to start, both as a student and as a instructor, but I have run into people that completely disagree. One guy at my former airline who was at Riddle a few years ahead of me told me "I didn't learn anything at Riddle that I couldn't have learned better flying single pilot 135". Probably true, but I can't say for sure because I never did that myself. I can say that there were courses and experiences that I had at Riddle that have directly helped me since then. Nothing that would have been a "make or break" type of situation, but it made things ALOT easier when it came time to understand big airplane systems, which buttons to push on the autopilot, and how to fly the sim in training, that sort of thing. Granted, knowing the difference between a radio altimeter and a radar altimeter hasn't ever helped me fly an approach, but I have no regrets and alot of fond memories of the school, my friends out there, the town (can't beat northern AZ!), and the whole deal.

On the other hand, it is dissapointing to hear about the changes that have been made to the school and the incredible price hikes. Why does it always seem that things are better "in the good old days"?

oh, and the women...

Come on fellas, you don't go to an aviation school for the girls. There were plenty of townie skanks anyway. I do remember at some point (96ish?) the school decided to create a woman's volleyball team in a poorly veiled attempt to draw more women to try to even out the guy/girl ratio. Kind of amusing...

Spoken like a true Riddle Grad!

Heya,

I gotta throw in with the pro-Auburn crowd here. I visited a bud there while in school, and all I can say is WOW.

Not just one, not just a few, but every one I saw was no less than a 8+. It might be something in the water.

Upon further reflection, it just might be towns that begin with "A", because there are an excess of hotties in Atlanta, Auburn, and Austin.

Whatever happened to going to a 4 year state college, partying your azz off and flying at a local FBO? All for about half to 3/4 less than the price of an "aviation" college and graduating with a meaningful degree.

Don't get me wrong, but I think any college that will accept anyone who'll pay the bill is kind of like collegiate PFT from the start.

Completely agree. If I had to do it over I would be at Auburn in a heart beat. Great flying program up here, nice people and all, but over the past 3 years I've come to realize that flying isn't everything when it comes to school. I would take a great well rounded university with a less known flying program over one of the "giants" anyday at this point in my college career.

...isn't that 90% of the state colleges?

Oh yes, and ERAU (or any of the colleges mentioned above) are any different? Give me a break, anyone with a large enough bank account can get into any college.

"Well, frankly, test scores like Larry's would call for a very generous contribution. [opens book] For example, a score of 400 would require a donation of new football uniforms, 300, a new dormitory, and in Larry's case, we would need an international airport." - Simpsons

Purdue by far is not the end-all of hot women, but it aint bad. The AvTech program is sorely lacking (each year gets a little better, IMO), but the campus as a whole is pretty good. With 38,000+ students, they are PLENTY of good lookin' women out there. Just go to the co-rec or Cactus any given Thursday, you'll see what I mean.

Thats one of the benefits of Purdue - its a small aviation program in a big university! Personally, I'm trying to find a pharmacy or managment major to act as sugarmama until I start making the "big bucks". Fortunately, women of that classification abound.

My hometown University of Kentucky ain't too shabby either, but no aviaiton program. The Big 10 isn't too shabby, but the SEC and Big 12 are were the ladies are :D

Sidenote: Flew into DAL a coupla weeks ago, and the girl working at Bizjet Center was an amazing blond from SMU. I think she was majoring in Communication. Ahhhhhhh, Texas....

Guess again Sherlock......go put in your app to Purdue and Illinois and you better have a 28 or better ACT and a hell of a high school GPA and rank to get in as a freshman....transfer is a little easier with good grades. They don't accept every shmoe with money....that would be Riddle.

As for Purdue gals...evidently i've been to better party's.
At Illinois they are like flys.

Isn't that kind of like any FBO? Let anybody fly who can afford to, even those with questionable skills? At least all the ones I've ever flown into or worked for...

Both FBOs and major programs can cull out the ones with poor skills, but lets face it - at the end of the day most programs have an excess of good applicants while the FBO has bills to pay. $$$ Talks.

Take it from a Part 141 CFI at a busy FBO, if they can't fly it, I won't solo them and the management won't say a da/\/\n thing. An explanation is given, and that's the end of story. If the customer still wishes to fly with a CFI, just because they like it, then we'll most certainly aim to please. Usually, those customers are well heeled professional adults, with no qualms about their career aspirations.

formula for picking a university

so youre interested in going to a major teaching institution for gettin learned good.

well. heres the easy way to pick where to go.
1) write down a list of ALL places that teach aviation.
2) set that list aside...far away
3) get another piece of paper and begin to write down these formulas.

girls / guys
of condoms sold to university area / number of students

for example georgia figures out to be like 4 girls per guy.
and if trojan sales figures totaled 3 million condoms sold there / students...would be a few hundred per student.....hmm...well it looks like a promising place.

so take these results and figure out wich university has the highest numbers of each and that shoudl tell you where to go to school. if your list of aviation schools ranks somewhere in there....then youre very lucky.

just stay away from UMR in rolla, MO. an engineering school where theres about 15 guys for every girl! (sheep are nervous.)

...that was my point exactly...if you've got money, almost all State schools will let you in as a "Conditional Student"...trust me...all the ones I talked to gave me the same deal

Conditional Student...then if it "works out" (pay the bill and don't drag down the curve too much) you can be a "freshman" your second simester...

PSU, OSU, YSU, EUP, IUP, Clarion, all state schools and all said the same thing to a guy who hasn't taken the SAT since 7th grade and barely "passed" high school...

State schools will take your money and let you "learn"...doesn't mean they'll pass you...isn't that the difference with "PFT"?
