As almost all cases of getting an interview, I am curious to know how likely it would be for a person trying to get a job at Frontier as of right now with no contacts on the inside, and no turbine PIC. I realize the chips are stacked against these odds, but I am just curious.

As long as you meet the official minimums, there's a chance. I'd say it's unlikely without an internal rec, though. Good luck, nonetheless.

You can do it, but you need a ton more experience to be competetive.

Does anyone know how much affirmative action plays a role these days?

You have no chance. There are too many qualified candidates that one or both of those things. Sorry if that sounds callous but it is a fact in this environment and you should know the truth.

Truth? I have to agree with Yaks. IMHO, anyone saying anything to the contrary is giving you false hope and lileky talking out of their proverbial arse. If I were you, I would get on airlineapps.com and do the app anyways. Then concentrate on enjoying life until you get some numbers that are a bit more competative.

One thing is for sure...If you don't apply you will never get the job. That being said, It is very hard to get hired here if you don't know anyone. We occasionally attend job fairs both nationally and locally here in denver. The last guy I knew who got hired without a Internal Rec, went to a job fair and met one of our Regional Chief pilots there.

Look at the bright side if you do sign up and put in your app and update it regularly they can see how much you want an interview. If you are with a part 121 carrier try to jumpseat from time to time to get to know some current pilots and maybe pick up a Silver Bullet. Never give up and keep at it.....that is the only way to get ANYWHERE in this business.......I wish you luck - Frontier is a good place to be :)

I don't know who you are talking about but I do know that Frontier hasn't hired a black pilot in over 3 years. So that can't be the target of your insinuations.

Are Black's the only minority group by which to measure affirmative action? I was under the impression that all minorities are covered under it. And on that basis, F9 had hired many pilots who are minorities.

Of course not and I didn't say that either but if crashpad wants to make those insuations on this board, he should be a little more specific.

So what is the the difference between a sliver bullet rec. and one you receive through airline apps?

Asians are not, yet they are considered a minority.

Frontier Pilots correct me if I am wrong but to answer the recommendation vs. Silver Bullet.

A pilot has one a year and must let MGT or the CP know that THIS GUY/GIRL is my Silver Bullet for the year. A Silver Bullet puts you in the "small" pile of resumes if I am not mistaken.

On a sidenote - hope the new codeshare with AirTran works out :)

That's correct.

As for the Affirmative Action insinuations, I think the direction of his insinuation is quite clear in his "between the cracks" post (his emphasis).
