I fly Indy Air quite a bit and the guys and gals that worked with the customers (gate agents, ramp workers, pilots and F/A's) were outstanding. I hope they can pull this out somehow. Good luck.

Heyas,

When I was PDT, we all were really impressed when ACA dug itself out its messy origin (split off from Westair, got the DHC-8s from Air Wille, furloughs in the early 90's) and went on to launch the J-41 and really put together a first rate outfit.

After the debacle with AAA, I never thought PDT would outlast ACA.

The sad irony was that Mesa bought, and later shutdown Westair, and that the same could happen at Indy. They'll join the ranks of CCAir and Crown.

Anyway, my thoughts are with you guys.

Translated.....Sir, It has been a rare and exciting privlidge to occupy the jumpseat at the esteemed FLY-I and I find myself in complete concurrence with the statements made by fellow poster "Chuckie". The pilots and crewmembers are all consumate professionals who are supremely enjoyable to be associated with and made occupying the jumpseat a truly elegant experience. My heart felt condolences go out to those of you who are losing your jobs and I'm pleased and delighted that AirTran has hired many former ACA/INDY pilots in the past. You have my sincerest best wishes for success in the future.

Awww Yeah! Dats what Im sayin, bro.

Im also sayin that if you gets a job with Air Tran (da Tranny), that Chuckie Yougourt dude says that he ain't lettin no "Air Trash" ever to be gettin a ride on his plane, and he's like a Midwest Capn. He be like usin his jumpseat as like a weapon, so if you live in like MKE, just know that dude is out there, and that's what he'll treat you like ifn you get hired by da Tranny.

All dem Fly-I dudes that are workin here are really cool peeps and Im like hopin we can brings more of you dudes in to da Tranny!

Goood luck and good kharma!

Many thanks for the jumpseat rides to IAD while you guys and gals served ORF. You guys had a very classy product and were the consumate professionals .You will be missed.......

It's hard to say at this moment. The letter clearly stated "IF". If we get money we move on, If we don't see ya on the 7th. Moore/Skeen should be hung for this.........
I enjoyed my time at INDY/ACA for the last 10 year's, but I think the Fat Lady is going to keep singing for along time once she starts?????

Well...

I spent 2 1/2 years on the property when it was ACA- all of it in Jetstreams and most of that in the 32. I've flown many before and since, but there was nothing quite like ACA, especially when I was there. Very very sad to see that it might not survive. All the best to the folks that remain, many of whom are friends of mind.

I say FLYI shuts down Jan 05 as a surprise to limit the rape and pillage of company property. Everyone wants a momento.

I have an unused ID90. Maybe I could sell it on eBay after the shutdown.

But WARN requires a 60 day notice...

HR Diva

True, but the law may require flyI to pay severence for all 60 days if they don't send the letter out. So send it out, and the clock starts.

True, but they'd probably argue one of the exceptions in the law:

The exceptions to 60-day notice are:
(1) Faltering company. This exception, to be narrowly construed, covers situations where a company has sought new capital or business in order to stay open and where giving notice would ruin the opportunity to get the new capital or business, and applies only to plant closings.

They did give a WARN to at least one of the unions. They never sent out individual ones. Sadly, since they will be no more, it will be a moot point.

Independence Air to Discontinue Operations: Airline Will Keep Flying Through Thursday Evening, January 5th
Monday January 2, 10:00 am ET

DULLES, Va., Jan. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - FLYi, Inc., (Nasdaq: FLYIQ - News) parent of low-fare airline Independence Air, announced today that because of the continued financial challenges facing the company, it will voluntarily discontinue all scheduled flights planned to depart after 7:00pm(*) on the evening of Thursday, January 5th. The company is seeking bankruptcy court approval to automatically refund customers with reservations for flights scheduled to depart beyond that time.

Customers with roundtrip reservations for trips departing before the cessation of operations (including those customers who have already departed) but were scheduled to return afterwards will be contacted by Independence Air and offered the opportunity to change their return reservations to one of the remaining days of operation. All change fees will be waived for changes made by phone. The company is also seeking bankruptcy court approval to automatically refund customers for those return flights that are not rescheduled. No refunds will be offered for free tickets or vouchers.

Customers whose trips are scheduled between now and Thursday evening should expect the same excellent service that Independence Air has become known for.

Independence Air Chairman and CEO Kerry Skeen said, "While we've been clear in reminding everyone that this was a possibility, we remained optimistic that there would be a way to avoid reaching this juncture. To date there has not been a firm offer put forward that meets the financial criteria necessary to continue operations as is. Therefore, we are voluntarily discontinuing scheduled service as of Thursday evening.

We offer our sincere thanks to the over eight million customers who have flown with us since the launch of Independence Air, and to the communities across America that we have served."

Skeen continued. "And most importantly, we thank our extraordinary employees for creating an airline brand that has been so universally praised by our customers. Our people have demonstrated that they are capable of operating an airline that quickly rose to the top of the rankings in every major independent survey of airline quality and customer satisfaction. And while this is a profoundly sad day for all of us, we could not be more proud of our employees and everything they have accomplished."

Customers are urged to visit the airline's www.FLYi.com website if they have further questions as callers to the company's toll-free number will likely experience long wait times.

Independence Air began service on June 16, 2004 and currently offers over 200 daily departures to 37 destinations.

The company has advised the public, and reiterates, that the likely outcome of the company's bankruptcy proceeding is the cancellation of the company's existing common stock without consideration, making FLYi stock of no value.

Independence Air, FLYi, the "i" logo mark and FLYi.com are service marks of Independence Air, Inc. ©Independence Air, Inc. 2006.

(*) Flight 1777 from White Plains, NY to Washington Dulles departing at 7:26pm is still expected to operate on Thursday 1/5.

While I feel sorry for all the soon to unemployed FLYI people, why is there not more outrage against their stupid management. The employees that I have seen still think it was a good idea to start FLYI and not just an ego driven crusade against UAL by Skeen. Incompetent management will kill an airline faster than anything else. FLYI was a stupid idea and it was executed poorly, not by the employees but by the dumbies in charge.

hey stan
if u r an ipa guy i have to disagree with your statement regarding, nothing can kill an airline faster than dumb management, because if that was true ours should of been killed long time ago with these morons in charge.
