How about something for the Air Wisconsin guys who financed the bankruptcy exit and merger with their paychecks?

Talk to the owners about your share. They owe you a bundle and you will eventually get yours in the form of a nice check.

As for flow, you should've thought of that when the deal went down.

I hear ya. PDT wants their CLT and ORF bases back. PSA wants their PIT and northern bases back.

It's all one HUGE Airways induced mess.
 
I asked this in another thread and got no answer. Is anyone aware of a "flow-through" agreement that actually was honored and people actually, well, "flowed through"? I don't mean the papers were signed, sealed and delivered, I mean actual movement of people in the desired direction.

TEMPE, Ariz., Sept. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- US Airways today announced plans to hire more than 350 new pilots with training dates beginning in November 2007. The airline will also move 140 pilots, who currently fly for US Airways Express carriers, back to the mainline flying seats they were furloughed from several years ago. The airline's pilot staffing needs are being driven primarily by retiring mainline pilots. New hire pilots will move onto the airline's growing Embraer 190 fleet, which in turn will drive current pilots to other aircraft like the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 family.
President Scott Kirby stated, "It was only two short years ago that both the former US Airways' and America West's futures were in the air. To stand strong two years later and announce that not only will we no longer have any pilots on furlough, but also will begin to hire new pilots is simply great news for our employees and our airline. Our pilots are among the most experienced and professional in our industry, and we look forward to welcoming our returning pilots from our Express partners as well as new pilots to our airline."

Dear Piedmont Pilot:
By the end of 2008, US Airways anticipates hiring more than 350 pilots to replace
retiring pilots and fill vacancies resulting from the delivery of 19 additional Embraer 190
aircraft. In addition to these new positions the mainline also expects to return all 140
former US Airways pilots currently working at regional carriers under the Jets for Jobs
program by April 2008. With those returns, US Airways will have offered recall to all 1,700
pilots who were furloughed during per-merger US Airways’ bankruptcies. That’s a milestone
Airways is delighted to reach.
After returning J4J pilots to vacant positions primarily on the Boeing 737 and Airbus
A320 aircraft, the remaining new first officer positions will be on the Embraer 190, Boeing 737
and A320 aircraft. US Airway’s strong preference is to offer as many
of these new positions as possible to you and pilots currently employed at PSA. While there are
no agreed-to contractual flow-through provisions yet, Airways expects to preferentially hire in
seniority order from the Piedmont pilot ranks.
Flow-up meetings with the companies and ALPA groups are being tentatively
scheduled for early October. If an agreement is reached then those flow-up provisions will be
applied to any eligible Express pilot under the negotiated terms.
If those discussions don’t produce a flow-up agreement by the time US Airways is
ready to being accepting new hires, US Airways will still proceed and offer preferential hiring to
any PSA or Piedmont pilot. Should that occur, any flow-up agreement reached after new hires
are brought on board may apply to any PSA or Piedmont pilot accepted under preferential
hiring provisions, as provided for in the flow-through agreement.
With that is mind, our plan is to have six pilots in March, six pilots in April and 11 pilots
per month in the May to December 2008 timeframe available for transition to Airways (a total
of 100 Piedmont pilots will have the opportunity to go to Airways in 2008). Obviously, US
Airways has to be sensitive to our ability to recruit and train replacement for those of you who​

choose to accept mainline employment. Therefore, the precise time of this hiring will be subject
to operational constraints and actual attrition at the mainline, but the plan is for Piedmont pilots
to apply, interview and when selected, receive their anticipated class date.
The hiring of 100 Piedmont pilots at Airways will clearly tax our recruiting, training and
financial resources, but we’re committed to doing it because both Piedmont and Airways
management feel it is the right thing to do. In addition to the direct recruiting, simulator and
other training costs, we’ve made the painful decision to remove three aircraft from our schedule
in January and February, two in March and one in April. This will allow us to build up our
training resources so that we can support moving this many pilots to mainline next year. We
plan to return to a full scale schedule in May, 2008.

Flow through agreements at AMR/Eagle and CAL/CoEx both resulted in pilots flowing through to mainline. There are still many pilots at Eagle with mainline seniority numbers that are just waiting for their class dates after the furloughs are called back.
 
PCL is right. Not to be forgotten, the Ransome/Pan Am Express seniority extension where the PA Express pilots got seniority numbers while flying ATR's. This is how Pan Am pilots got all flying done by Pan Am pilots, even though they were separate Certificates and working agreements. Some of those pilots retired from Delta with those numbers.

That is the kind of job protections ALPA (& Teamsters, etc....) need to be working on to avoid whipsaw.

Yup, all 2 of them. When you're right, you're right. Flow through works. If only a certain group would have been more open to the idea. Oh well, opportunity lost.

yep, this is because of the pilot attrition to mainline! I would think that once the smoke is settled we will be operationally held at PDT! Which is cool, as long as I can accure longevity will I am still at PDT.
 
US West had to drag the East MEC to the table on this deal, so congrats to PSA,PDT and AWA for working past them. WO guys remember that the East guys have never done anything for you and will at every opportunity treat you like a second class citizen. Good luck to all.

East wasn't dragged into it! Once they (East) found out the West Folks were gonna sit down with us even after the East refused to show, must have a set a fire under there butt.
 
Not sure what your talking about dragging the east over there. This isn't the "flow through" between carriers. There is no automatic flow up, nor any flow down. Right now management is instituting a preferential hiring program, where they will hire 1 for 4 from the WO's (that's how I read it) If there is a flow through agreed upon, those prev. hired will be covered by the covenants of that flow through.

I believe part of this is for pilot retention. PSA/PDT can't hold any new f/o's, especially PSA. PSA's letter states they prob. will ground 1or 2 more airplanes the facilitate this, and they have already budgeted an extra 4800 hours of sim time next year for the movement. With PSA/PDT now able to offer preferential hiring, a bunch of guys will prob. hang out a little bit longer and forgo the bonuses at Republic and such.

It's amazing that, most likely if f/o wages and even capt wages were raised some, that would stem some of the attrition. But management looks at it, and budgets an EXTRA 4800hrs of sim. Park 2 or more airplanes (this might be on top of the 5 already parked) and find it as a cheaper way to retain guys than to pay them....pretty f*(k*d up.


Forgot to add......mins are 1500 turboprop/jet, 500 fixed wing. ATP or written. And something new that they have to do this time around, if you end up getting on the Airbus, most likely you'll get typed as a new hire (in '99 new hires couldn't opt for the types till after probation) From what I heard, it may depend on what base you end up at, and the reason for the type, is the bus does some trips with IRO's....

Also looking at the numbers, 1 for 4 out of 350, is about 90 pilots, I guess from the WO's, whether that's from each WO, or total, don't know. The numbers thrown around in the PDT and PSA letters, would indicate it's 1 for 4 from Each WO.

the ransome deal was before the ATR days - and it was because the old man (JD himself) dictated that his pilots get DOH at the mainline or no deal - PA wanted JD's slots in JFK and DCA. JD was a true "pilots' pilot" not to mention an incredible bussiness person.

I think Steve's letter is poorly written... Maybe what he means is something like this:

January: down three airplanes
February: still down three airplanes
March: down two airplanes
April: Down just one airplane
May: Full Schedule

That being said, good luck Steve! We couldn't even get homeless guys down by the river to work here.
