Gulfstream 200, I don't know where you work man, but Comair has been hiring some pretty hot women for the cockpit lately. It's a nice change.:p

Re: Re: God's gift.....

Les Paul Hey TY WEBB: What happened to your proclamation about the NWA pilots being kicked off the jumpseat?? What happened there tough guy??[/i] The investigation hasn't finished yet said:
I don't know what their procedure was, since I hired on about 5 years after the merger. What are you, some sort of demented jumpseat historian?

What was the jumpseat procedure at Republic? Or at Western? Hmmmnnn . . . Drawing a blank? Well, then, here's one so easy, even you should get it:

Who signs the "Jumpseat Ride-along Permission Slip" at your Home Depot?

Apparently, that is about the only jumpseat riding you're getting these days.

You seem like an angry little man that hasn't flown or gotten laid in a very, very long time.

Don't worry, if you're striking out with the ladies, I hear T-Bags is easy. If you guys hit if off and want to get to BOS to make it official, I'll even throw in a couple of buddy passes, just to show that there's no hard feelings.

Here is a posting of precautions for entering a hyperbaric chamber:

"Because the chamber is pressurized with 100% oxygen, we cannot allow certain items to be taken inside. These include lighters or matches, cigarettes, nylons, wigs, or hair pieces, petroleum jelly, ointments, hearing aids, watches, makeup, lipstick or lip balm, hair spray, hair oil or relaxers, synthetic clothing or hard contact lenses."

Note the reference to Lipstick and lip balm. If there is no danger why is this listed? Also, as someone stated earlier, you don't ignite on fire, you suffer a chemical burn on the lips, not an actual fire..... so just calm down guys....

More info from Flight Safety Austraila Magazine, July 1998 issue on Hypoxia:

"Fire danger: When using supplemental oxygen, remember that pure oxygen is a fire danger. You need to make sure that your oxygen cylinder is approved, stowed, serviced, and maintained properly. You should avoid any sources of ignition inside the cabin, such as cigarette lighters.

Do not use petroleum-based products - such as vaseline or lipstick - on your face when using supplemental oxygen as these can react adversely when in contact with 100 per cent oxygen. Burns to the lips and mouth have been reported."

Case closed guys, there is a CHANCE of suffering 'chemical' style burns to the lips if wearing petroleum based products and donning a mask.... Next myth!

Seriously!!

Boys!!

Les: I appreciate your comments. Please now respect me enough to stay on your side of the board and let this thread get back on topic.

Ty: I think I need to make this a triangle and send you to the third corner to cool off! :)

You both are above the petty bickering that your last few posts have shown.

Vampyre: Thank you for your post in regards to the hyperbaric chamber and O2. I'd heard the same thing in regards to the chamber, but had concluded that the concentration of O2 in the chamber is much higher that what you could expect to get through an O2 mask in the event of an onboard rapid decompression. I don't think that the levels on petroleum compounds in the more modern lipsticks/chapsticks would cause any more than a slight burn, as lipids (fats) are more common as bases than petroleum these days.

Oh yeah and Jmmccutc? When the magic wears off, you have a wicked hangover. ;)

More myths?

Don't make me pull this car over!!!

Please- for the love of...
Les paul, dude, what is your freak'n problem? Look, you're right... Todays aviators are just like drivers on the highway... Some good, and some need to get a clue. I know of what I speak, I see thousands of clients at our training center, all of whom have very different levels of knowledge. And, kind sir, I could have speculated in the very fashion that you did as to the results of pure O2 and lipstick... Did you hear what I said? SPECULATED. My point is that we all BELIEVE we know what will happen, my real question is has anyone ever EXPERIENCED a similar scenario. Because this is a poplularly posed questioned at the 142 training center that I work at, and because I didn't KNOW FOR CERTAIN what the results were (you know, having never worn lipstick and an O2 mask at the same time that is...), then I thought I would throw it out there for our colleagues, and also because I wanted to start an interesting thread about popular aviation myths.

Here is another thought for you, my friend. I see your type almost every week in the sim. Guys that are all about blowing their collective intelectual wad so they can ensure their bros know just how smart they are, and sometimes aren't. Well, we concede... You're smarter than the rest of us, and we all want to be just like you. Now, please consider enlightening the rest of us on perhaps more of your knowledge and driving the thread back to it's original purpose, aviation myths.

And a special thanks to the rest of you guys for contributing to this LIGHT HEARTED thread.

Regards,

Jason

Les Paul [B]TY WEBB: You are not a very bright person and I'm going to demonstrate why. said:
Actually, Les Paul, in this thread, I don't have to be a genius, I only have to be smarter than you. . . . and I am going to demonstrate that right here by taking the high road and leaving you in my rear-view mirror.

Try for a minute to forget what a bitter POS you are, and have yourself a nice one, now, y'hear?

Never before in my life have I seen such a fight by MEN, no less, about lipstick and oxygen.

Now then, on to the myth debunking. Do raw oysters really make you horny?

SK:cool:

*laugh* Figured something to do with sex would come up in conjuction with aviation and pilots sooner or later.

Allow me to debunk this one :)

From 'Go ask Alice':

"Although aphrodisiacs are based more on cultural myths than fact, their allure continues to this day, as people still experiment with them to pep up their sex lives. Throughout history, people all over the world have tried certain foods, beverages, drugs, and chemicals in the hopes of being bestowed some magical aphrodisiac powers. The fact that some look similar to men's and women's genitals, or are even derived from animal sex organs, was no accident. Named after Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love, beauty, and fertility, aphrodisiacs are substances that supposedly elicit sexual desire and arousal, enhance sex drive and sexual "performance," and extend sexual energy.

According to a review by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), however, no purported aphrodisiac has been scientifically proven to be effective at meeting its claims. Regardless of whether or not aphrodisiacs work, the power of suggestion, psychologically and emotionally, is key. If one believes using any particular substance, alleged aphrodisiac or not, will help enhance his or her sex life, and s/he is receptive to that longing, then it can help bring about sexual desire and arousal, at least in the short-term. Of course, a good night's sleep, time, privacy, confidence in your contraception, self-confidence, and a turned-on partner may do the same thing."

It's the last sentence that's really the best! So all in all, raw oysters do nothing, but a turned-on partner does (whether he's battery operated or not!)

:D

I thought the biggest complaint from you guys was that it was the other way around????
