Has anyone ever received a flight safety proficiency card?
It is supposed to be given to pilots in training who consistently exceed ATP standards.

Hmmmmmm.....

Well, just made the jump from Skyway to corporate...got my type in the Hawker from Flight Safety in ILM. Got one of them there cards...don't know details about why you get one, but I did. Only my first time training there, so not sure if the consistently exceeding ATP standards is accurate. If it is......D***, I'M GOOD!!!

There are two different ProCards that flight safety issues..Silver and Gold.

They really dont mean alot but they are associated with a life insurance policy that flight safety has. If you have a gold you get better payout if you get killed while flying within the time of the card. (thats why there is an exp. date on the card). The silver is less of a payout.

I made the mistake of telling my wife this and she told me if I am going to die I better do it in the airplane. She is so loving.

I have about a dozen of them or so in my desk drawer...let me know if you want some of mine - you can choose from King Air, Starship, and Challenger(Challenger comes in both Flight Safety and Bombardier flavors).

All in all, they don't mean a didly damn thing(although I didn't know about the life insurance deal). I didn't know that I received them for being sh!t hot in the sim - this whole time I thought they were just a 'receipt' for the $20K my company spent every 6 months.

I think it get's you a discount at the local Starbucks, but only if you are in full uniform/hat/flight case so everyone knows your a pilot.

it's something flight safety hands out to make you feel better about pay too much for overpriced, generic training.
