Superpilot92,

Go for XJET.(Expressjet) As long as you know the pay won't be great the first year and your new wife and child don't mind that, then just go for it. You have trained to be a pilot and you obviously enjoy it, and you will also enjoy XJET. Don't let these other disgruntled pilots tell you to do something else, follow your passion. Just understand that you might not make a lot of money, and you may be away from your family 18-20 days a month. It is still a good job.

I know the first year pay sucks. First year Jet pilot should definitly make more money than that. We have all put forth alot of time and effort, lets dont forget MONEY to be pilots. We should get paid more. I love flying and could never even imagine sitting behind a desk everyday at the same office building day in and day out. My wife knows the pay stinks at least at first.
I am pretty fortunate with my instructing job right now. I make 16.50 and hour and can work as much as i want everymonth. I get 2 free multi hours every month to go practise shooting approaches or go on short cross countrys. So the money at the regionals isnt much more than i make now but i would be getting much better flight experiance and get into the turbine time. I am looking at going to the majors some day or even fedex who knows and to me the quickest shot there would be the regionals. Especially at the rate they are hiring now. Besides this is the aviation world we are talking about none of us know what tomorrow will bring. Its like i keep saying i am riding the bus and trying to make good decisions at this very important time in my career. That being choosing 121 or 135 or even 91 for that matter. Thanks again.

SuperPilot,

I'm in the same boat you are, except I have 3 more semesters in college. I'll be one of those 1000 and 1 wonders at some lucky regional. Everyone was there at one point. Good luck getting out of instructing and into a jet.

Work hard and continue to fly. thats what it boils down to.

I am only gurenteed an interview. Not a job! i have to earn that....
I think you misunderstood me.

I was saying that I agreed with you that you aren't guaranteed anything. Someone earlier had posted that you were implying that since you interned there, you had it locked up. All I was saying was that I didn't think you were saying that and I agreed with you.

However, I am obviously wrong in that you are guaranteed the interview. If this is the case, then make everything you can out of it. Seems like XJT (from what I've been reading) is a great place to be.

Good luck.

i knew what you were getting at. that sentence was directed towards those who thought interns were just given jobs. People also dont realize that interns work there for a whole semester and dont get paid anything. $-0- While we work at the company we put time in with the people there and work and jumpseat and just try to show them not only are we good pilots but hard workers also. At least most interns have that mentality. I learned so much during my stay there and i cant wait to go back. I met many many great people. My main point is that there are alot of good pilots out there whom want to progress and want to be captains some day. But first we have to be first officers so we can learn and build more flight experiance. I dont want a job just handed to me. I didnt work my arse off through out training and college. I take great pride in my flying. I made it a goal to earn all of my ratings with out ever pinking one and i accomplished that goal. I have had no students fail checkrides that i have signed off and i take great pride in everything that i do. That will carry over into any job i recieve in the future. I truley feel sorry for those whom hate their jobs. I have had jobs before that i hated but fortunatly for me i love flying airplanes. There is just not much cooler than what we do.

I think i am going to puke after reading your mindless posts. Its not that a 750 pilot is a bad thing and that we should help you out, but your lectures and the means by which you put others down by rambling on here is sad and pathetic.

Show some respect for your fellow aviators, some of the people who know more and experienced more, rather than insulting them. There is nothing wrong with having the drive, but dont walk over your peers to get where you are going. In my new hire class, we have a bunch of aviation college grads but hardly any show the professionalism and common sense that is needed when flying in a crew environment.

Lastly, super92, grow up cuz this is a small business and the person you insult today, will be interviewing you tomorrow. Its not that difficult to find out who you are and believe me, xjet knows that you are posting on this board.

If you were an intern, why dont you contact the manager that you worked for.

I agree it is getting kind of old. With the amount of replies it seems liked you spent the whole day refreshing this page and replying to people... guess no students today?

Anyway, stop talking about it. The people that are always saying "I am paying my dues" or "I have paid my dues"... I have found those people don't really understand the meaning of the term. The real guys - they go to work everyday to try to work hard and make a living. They don't talk about paying dues - they just do it.

Just stop talking about it already. Do whatever you feel is best for yourself, and your family. Go to work, work hard, cash your paycheck. You keep saying over and over that you are paying your dues and are so excited about working for Coex and flying a jet. It's getting really old.

I come on this forum to learn from people on what to do and what not to do. I have learned alot through this. Main thing is show up work and move onto bigger and better things.

Super92,

I didn't think you were being rude. I think Sirhumpalot---or "The Man with 1700 hours" is being a jerk. I hope he enjoys aviation as much as you do. Don't listen to his krap. Go forward and try to get on with Xjet. You may need a few more hours to be competitive, but there is nothing wrong with trying. An ASA friend of mine told me that a few ASA guys who were Riddle interns got on with 500 hours total and 100 multi. If they can do it, then maybe you can. Good luck.

Bye Bye--General Lee

Thanks general. I take what people like generaltso says with a grain of salt. I get on this site to get advice from experianced guys to see what it is i can do to better prepare myself so that they wont be able to tell the difference between someone with 3ooo hours and someone like me with just under 1000. I appreciate it again.

Generaltso and humpalot:

Why do you(and the other naysayers who have posted here) get so upset that this guy is trying to dind his way to a better job? You've done nothing but villafy him for "walking over his peers" and being a snotnose because he wants to get out of flight instructing. He has NEVER insulted anybody on this thread, and offered every explanation he's had to purely in self defense. I'm really dissapointed that you buttheads can only find your way in to being spiteful, devoid of any kind of class, and at the very least just mean-spirited.

Buddy, take your own advice, because I'd prefer someone like super over a self-important blowhard like yourself. And can the big brother crap. XJET is not watching to see what people are posting on here so they can go through HR files and blacklist people. Jeez, more raging idiots.
