I can proudly say I am a FLX alumni and was there six months to the day. It was a great experience. There are basically two runs in our system. You have the day runs that start anywhere between 4am to 8am and end between 2-6 pm which usually involve flying somewhere and sitting all day. Not the best way to build time but pay is 30k+ a year. Then most the other runs fall in the range of 4-6pm til 12- 3am These runs which are more prevalent in the southern bases FL ATL and such usually involve more flying but lower pay maybe 6-10 hours of duty which i prefer to fly and not sit around. Cincy runs are all minimum pay runs and stl runs are probably the longest easiest runs. The best piece of advice i can give you is get a run in a base not an outstation. I made the mistake of picking an outstation where there is no rotation pilot which makes it next to impossible to get days off. Pick ORL TAMPA STL CINCY MKC or some other place where are several runs if you ever want off for that dream interview. The best 210s are up north as far as avionics are concerned and the north birds are all TKS known icing equipped which works great on the 210s at least. I had about 6 people between me and a baron when i left which probably just speculating would had made my upgrade around 9 to 10 months but that number will change if regional hiring slows down. All in all it was a great experience and the skills you learn will be well respected whereever you find yourself after FLX.
