I have been using them for the last year. Last annual the mechanic did not follow the borescope protocol at condition inspection. This year different mechanic is doing it as we speak. I upload every flight to Savvy. They have also helped with many different minor questions I have had. I can upload videos and they will even give me guidance on exhaust color - any questions I have. Excellent service, a little pricey, but well worth it if you use it.

This is something I want to get done. @Hunter did you use them?

I use Savvy, used the Savvy borescope protocol at last condition inspection. Very useful, especially to have a base line to compare at subsequent condition inspections.

I suspect that quite a few airplane owners buy the ViVidia AbleScope VA-400L HD USB Borescope Endoscope based on this Savvy initiative. I purchased one back in December 2021 and have only used it a few times.

I had intended to use it at this year's condition inspection but found it to be unusable. Despite being stored in the protective case and the shipping box I found that the rubber sleeve on the articulating head had bonded to the case foam and then had set hard.

It took over and hour of very careful work to break the hardened rubber away from the articulating head and then fit a new rubber sleeve.

I had contacted Oasis Scientific for support but received no answer until I tried again a week later. After exchanging a few emails with them I learned that:

1. They have few spare parts available and no parts for repair of the articulating head.
2. There is a new version that replaces the rubber sleeve with a tungsten braided mesh sleeve.
3. It is not possible to retrofit the new style articulating head or the sleeve to the earlier version.
4. I was advised that my best course of action would be to buy a new one.

Some of the best borescope pictures I made on my O-360 engine were made with a $10 eBay USB endoscope taped to a length of coat hangar wire.

If you have the version that uses the rubber sleeve I suggest keeping it in a cool place and using something to keep the rubber sleeve separate from the case foam.

Some before and after pictures -
