Any opinions on good brand names of quality flight cases that actually last longer than 2 years? I think I'm in the market for something other than the $40 case this time.

Scott leather bags. WWW.Scottleather.com They give airline discounts $250 to $300 for the top leather bags depending on the style. Super nice people, great quality.

Best Bag of The Bunch

Scotts is really built well...ever see the leather that makes horse saddles? Tough stuff! One in the same. Not cheap, but "Buy it nice, or buy it twice"

Lots of options for mods...end pocket for glasses or cell phone, inside flap pocket for all those little loose items.

Ya just gotta drag it around behind your truck for a day or two, to lose that "new guy stink" and get that "broken in look.":D Seriously, after two years of being thrown around, the bag still looks new.

Cheers,
Hooch

flight bags

Scott. They are tanks and if you live in the DFW area, you can drive out and get a second. They said a used one would be fine for me because I only had about 15 years till retirement. They sold me one they used as a loaner which was slightly used for about $100 off. Only bad thing is how much it weighs; as much empty as my ballistic nylon one did with books. Made from same leather they make saddles out of. Thick and durable.

two truisms in aviation.

1) purdy neat things stealth bag
2) scott's kit bag

can't miss with both of them.

I agree with yoda,

I have a 10 year old Scott bag (tough as nails). It took me a while but finally decided the stealth roller was the way to go.

I've been out there to the Scott leather workshop. They will do repair/refurbish of their bags for a reasonable price.

SCott used to sell to Sporty's. When Scott was in Argyle, Texas a friend of mine purchased a blemished bag for a deep discount. The blemish was on the bottom of the bag and was un-noticeable. Scott doesn't sell to Sporty's anymore so I do not Know about seconds. The bag is built from a single piece of saddle grade leather, so you do not have to worry about the bottom falling out of the bag. I think a-lot of other bag manufacturers are doing it this way. I have an old school Jepp bag from the 50's, and the bottom of the bag is sewn in as a floor. If I used it it would eventually fall apart.

Sent my Scott bag back last year. Couldnt stand it. Cheap velcro pockets to hold sunglasses and pens, annoying extra flaps on both sides at the top of the bag, side holders inside the bag about the width of belt strap. Heard all the hype on the bag and couldnt get rid of it soon enough. Went back to
korchmar.

Hi,

I'm considering getting the http://www.bomcrewmall.com bag. Anyone out there with first hand experience? Any problems with payments or shipping? good or bad? Thanks!

Good choice! Anil Bakhru is the owners name! Known him personally for the year and a half that I was flying to BOM. Bought everything from flt bag to bomber jacket from him. You will not be disappointed with anything you get from him. If you ever need something worked on that you bought from him, he will do it for no charge.(little more difficult if you don't fly there). You can send him anything or pics of anything and he will make it exactly like what you sent.
As far as shipping I would believe what he tells you. I am not sure about payment either(I always paid cash in person). But would trust him totally.
Good luck! LOA

The last jacket I bought from Bomcrew was from here in the good ole' US of A and all you do is print out a payment sheet, fill it out with credit card info and fax it to a number on the east coast. He then ships the item. If you are having something custom made be a little patient. If you have questions you can email him and he will get back to you ASAP. Good people there.
