Hey guys,

I'll be starting CL-300 class next month at Flex, and I was trying to get a jump on studying. I have a copy of all the limitations, but I was curious if any of the flex guys know where I could get a copy of the emergency procedures and Flows. If anyone could provide some help, I would appreciate it. Thanks

Don't sweat it. They will teach you everything you need to know. I would suggest not to learn it on your own and do it like they teach. You will also have plenty of time to learn. Training is very relaxed. Good luck and welcome aboard!!!

Great job on the Challenger 300 - that airplane is awesome. Very capable and nice and comfy up front for the longer flights. Enjoy!

Standby,

First, welcome to Flex. Second, did you get the limitations sheet from the company? I thought they had the emergency procedures on that? On day one, you will get your CFM (Crew Flight Manual). In there, you will find the flows. Once you are in the school house, spend your breaks and some time after class to go into the papar tiger (trainer) and you can work on both the PIC and SIC flows. That will help you.

CL300Pilot,

Thanks for the hospitality and advice. I was able to track down the limitations online and not through Flexjet. So I did'nt get the limitations sheet from the company that has the emergency procedures on them. Thanks again for the suggestions.

I'm not sure what your background is Standby...but I believe you've found yourself right smack dab in the middle of a pretty sweet gig!

Enjoy and welcome to Flexjet.

What kind of schedule can a newhire (on the CL300 or otherwise) expect once on the line? I know that Flexjet does not offer 7/7. So, how many days off likely per month at the beginning? What does the schedule typically look like?

Just curious. I am sure Flexjet wannabes out there would be interested too.

Standby,
take your training seriously, but indoc is about as laid back as the interview. Enjoy it and welcome aboard.

On your six,
I think the yield is down to 15 days per 28 day bid period. 16 is typical, but you can bid down and we have enough guys who like to fly extra to usually allow you to do that. Plan on a minimum of 12 days off per bid period, and as an F.O. there's a solid chance you'll land some home reserve which usually amounts to you getting paid to watch tv, play golf, or do whatever gets you excited while at home on a 2 and 1/2 hour call out.

we do have 7/7, but it is a limited number and goes fairly senior. you get a "reserve" schedule, so you can expect 6 on 4 off, or 5 on 3 off, or a combination of all of the above. you'll get to ask for 3 specific days of each month which you'll almost always get, otherwise you have no control over what days they assign you while you stay on a reserve line

home reserve in the 300? they are so short staffed tho, i doubt there is much of that going on. but i'm in the 60 so thats just a complete guess

The first thing you need to remember is everything is paid per day, current first year daily rate is $278.00 per day.
We are currently using a PBS bid system that figures company need, seniority, and a host of other factors.
The basic bid is 16 days. You can bid up 3 or down 2. You can bid tours of 4 days to 6 days. You can bid weekend starts, weekend off and a bunch of other factors. They are trying the 7 and 7 schedule on a small percentage of people who request it. I also hear that they are planning on scrapping the PBS system, in favor of hard lines, but that is just hearsay, your mileage may vary.
Now, don't ask me how well the system works, I don't think ANYBODY, including the schedulers have an idea. Not many people are really impressed with the system, seems the one day you absolutely, positivlely need off, is the sure bet winner to be in the middle of a tour. But, having said that, a call to your scheduler has a very good effect. They do seem to try to help when possible.
Just remember, you get paid for as much or little as you work, bid 14 and you get less, bid 18 you make more.
Also, you will need to work hard to NOT come home with your tax free per diem. It is about $42.00 per day, and even doing a couple of days hotel reserve, where you don't get the crew meals, it is hard to spend it all.
Good gig, great people to work with, hope you enjoy.

Hey guys,

Thanks for all the constructive advice and suggestions, I really appreciate it. Also, thanks to Talako for the website reference, it appears to be a good one.

From the time you applied, to an interview, to a class date, how long did that take at Flex? Thanks.

Lavman,

It took about a month after I submitted my resume for the phone interview. During the phone interview I was asked to come to Dallas in two weeks. I was then offered a class date one month prior to class. They do appear to have more resumes now, than back when I applied, so the wait may be longer. I'm not sure which domicile you're trying for, but it does seem that they are looking for guys who want to live in the northeast domicile. Overall, it appears to be a good company, with a great group of pilots. Hope that helps.

Welcome aboard. There are alot of great people here and you are guaranteed to have fun with this group. Like most everyone else has said, you will have plenty of time to prepare during training, especially if you are staying in the old Braniff complex. I would suggest brining a car, because the hotel is fairly isolated.
Again welcome and congratulations.

Joker fuel,

Thanks for welcome

Another question for the flex guys. I recently recieved my training schedule, and I appear to have about 4 consecutive days off in the middle of training. Question is, is there any chance of traveling home for a few days, or do they expect you to stay in Dallas? Thanks again guys.

you can go home if you want, but that schedule might change so dont make any plans until you clear it with the instructors.
