Fast: As one who was at the meeting here in Dallas, the union drive at Flexjet is as dead as the frozen lasagna in your freezer. You will not gain a majority of FJ pilots who will give up the new pay that is better than many of the LCC/Nationals/Majors. Why should we?

The good news to you pro-union guys: it's a year-by-year thing.

Move on to Shares; you have a good chance there.

It would be illegal for them to reduce your pay or not implement announced pay increases because of a union drive.

Everyone at Flex should listen to this next part....YOU HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE SENDING IN THE CARD...NOTHING. You only stand to gain by having the opportunity to vote in a union. The company will come to the table to fix any other issues (bases) surely before the vote. Even if you plan to vote NO you lack some brain cells if you don't send in the card. It can only help.
 
Blue: I have a CAPS key, too. Your effort, and your logic is so wasted, that you might as well move on to FARs for ultralights.
 
Hopefully the pilots at FJ are not so weak in the knee's that they were bought off by the pay proposal. Rest assured that the proposal was very calculated by Flex management. What is the least we have to give to quell the union drive??? How many here will sell out just for the added cash???

There are two reasons Flex management proposed raising the pay. (1) NetJets new contract and (2) the potential of a union forming at FJ. That simple. The mere threat of a union and the wages at NJ forced the management to concede the added wages. But as stated, they calculated the least amount they would have to give in order to have enough pilots sell out. They will laugh if that is all it took to get the pilot group to whimper away. Face the facts, if you want those lousy QOL issue's resolved - it will require either a union or the threat of one. Sooner or later you folks will need to stand up or hide in the corner with your tails tucked between your legs.

Really, you sound like a management crony slinging crap to see what sticks. That or you're poorly informed about how a union is started.

He's not a mgmt cronie, he's just uptight cause he's in the Lear now. It has that tendency. You know, the cramped space and all...

Beech, what's the point of bringing in the union now? The only thing that set the whole thing off (this time) was the NJ pay raise. Our company answered it. Case closed.

Fast: Your post makes the assumption that we want a union, and are afraid to vote one in. You're a smart guy. Why don't you tell us the error in your logic.

you make the assumption that THE issue for pro union guys is and was money. That is incorrect for most. I'll happily take the pay raise ,if it sticks with the coming recession, but I and many others could list at least 5 other issues that were more important than monetary compensation in our latest package. I'm sorry that so many could be bought off so easily.

There are grounds for legal action if they take away the pay or change any other benefit after enough cards are turned in. This really doen't matter because they now can change the pay and benefit package at anytime anyway. They have done it before and it would not be a surprise if they do it again. We need to address all issues not just pay. The only way this will be done at Flexjet is through contract negotiations. Some of you might have got a healthy proposed raise, but if you plan on staying for the long run you will be very disappointed when you reach the later years of the payscale. Anyone close to year 10 or higher should be very concerned. After year 10 you will only see a yearly increase of less than half of the current CPI. How is that good for anybody?
