I grew up fishing the comox/campbell river area as a kid. I went there every summer for probably 10 years. Not only is the scenery spectacular, but the fishing was indescribable. I also lived in Alaska, and when I say that the fishing was great, I know what I'm talking about. I don't know if they're still around, but there is a resort called King Coho that had cute cabins with screened in sleeping porches, rental boats/motors, close to good horseback riding among other things. Great resort to take a family, or also good with the guys. Just bring lots of good steaks and booze because it is somewhat isolated ( part of its charm). I've probably caught 50 silvers and one big king (43lbs) in the 10 years I went there. As soon as my kids are old enough, I'll definitely go back. About an hours drive from Campbell River.
