Thought it might be interesting for newbies to see what first year FO's take home every other week.

CJ $525 per check

of course that is after uniform deduction and is based on guarantee. But if you do the math every month you have 1050 which = broke a$$ mofo.

I took home ~$850 to $1100 per check, which worked out to ~$1700-$2100 per month. Enough to live on. Barely.

That's about what Mesaba was paying 5-6 years ago...the more things change, the more they stay the same.

Refresh my memory...what airline is CJ?

This might have potential to be a useful topic.....if someone doesn't start talking about lowering the bar....

Don't forget to put you airline with the info....

I made more at colgan my first year. The benefit choices and how much uniform you bought must really effect it. I didn't get the dental.

Did a google search and CJ is China Northern Airlines.... So he is actually making a killing over there.... $525 American converts to 4,238.5873 YEN!!!! Dude, you can by yourself a nice place and a few geishas with that kind of loot.... No wonder the market is flooded with pilots....

I come up with about 60,000 yen. But then a) a bud is about 1,000 and b)chinese use yuan

Not much in any language

I haven't seen less than $1400 take-home since my first month. Most months have been between $1700-1900.

for the year 2005, gross pay of $29521, most of that at 19.02/hr.

I picked up a little extra, not a ton. that figure includes an extra 1600 bucks I'll make via the stock purchase program, which skews my take home pay

To put things into perspective, the check I picked up this past Friday for basically the month of December was more than that. I'm an instructor and furthermore, the weather made half the month no-go.

Good thing for that MD-80 Sim then.

cj is colgan. And Holy Crap, I make so much less than other regional airline pilots. we get 21/hour. must be some big diffs in the "soft pay".

with working over guarantee finally i take home about 1400 per month. It is amazing how low my standard of living has become.

I grossed $38,000 my first year at PDT. Of course that was before concessions. A lot of premium pay trips were involved, but when we had 18 days off a month, picking up one or two days of flying wasn't a big deal.

I think i was averaging about 120 hours of pay per month. (In the year 2000)

Hmmm, some reserve pilots get 80-100hrs of pay credit. One good thing about PDT is that if you hustle a bit you can make more money then most regionals your first year. When I was on Reserve as a Captain I have seen as high as 120 hrs of pay for a month, and as little as the 72hrs. Once you hold a line you will easily get between 95-110 hrs of pay each month. Makes for livable wages.. Like your own Apartment, ability to pay bills... and so on..
My first year at PDT wasn't that high 38k!!!!! Wow!! You Ho Bag!!! LOL!!!!! I was too busy chasing Tits and A$$. 18 Days off!!! You must have been part of the Florida Flying Club!!!! Man, I was always jealous when I saw the Florida Lines!!!! Can you make 38k? Yep, like Prop said.. picking up trips that are pay prem.! And picking up reserve days.. etc etc!!! Mostly depends on how we are staffed! If we are short, you can make tons of cash!
I made 26k (take home) my first year at PDT back in 2000's!! However I worked only 10 months of that year. So it would have been about 30k. The first year pay then was about $23.62... not sure what it is today, but I think it finally got higher then that!!!

Not a bad Airline to be stuck at waiting for a mainline job!!! I didn't think I would still be at a regional for 5 years but atleast being some place that pays you for your time makes it a bit bareable. Yea, your stuck in a turbo prop... But if you have to be stuck in one...... The Dash 8 isn't that bad of one. Quiet, nice work station (big Cockpit), and fun to fly!!

I guess that's the cost of flying that kind of equipment. I get more than that an hour, though the work does tend to be sporadic and I don't get all the perks and I fly stinking crappy planes 5' off the deck going back and forth.

If u want to make more money..simple..invest in oil in the stock market :)

who is pres again? Duhhhhh

Picked up $6,000 last year :)

Psssst Natural Gas is boooooooooooming in the U.S. their is your hint

But anyways back to the thread...I made about $25,000 1st year at CHQ wooohoooo Got paid $50 bucks an hour flying a C-402 plus tips from charters.... sad sad

I had two months that year that I broke 140 hours of pay credit. The biggest paycheck I ever saw at PDT was when I was a FO.

$2100/month average take home pay for myself so far as a first year line holder at CHQ. Average about 83 hours of credit per month + $500 in per diem. Live in Florida though too so that helps with the taxes.

Yea! I had on of my biggest Paycheck as an FO also!! I believe it was around 140 Credit also!!! Bought a new Sony HD LCD TV!!! LOL!!! I think my Second check for the month was 2600.00!!!
