I know this has been asked before, but do you need a first class medical for pt. 91 E.U. operations?

Read the article, and that was my belief as well, but universal is saying that a second will work for E.U. countries... Anyone been ramped there with a second class?

Universal wont be the ones sitting these trying to explain why you don't need what they require. If I followed what Universal suggested over the years I'd be running a pretty F'd up operation.

Is there any difference in just maintaining a 1st class just to CYA in Europe? One less thing to worry about.

Word.

If you even THINK you might need it, why not get it?

There's plenty of stuff they can bust you for on a SAFA check. Don't give them a slam dunk right away.

I have flown all over Europe and a lot more areas of the world on a Second Class Physical. I did have a few ramp checks with no problems.

Now, that being said, just get a First Class and not worry about it.
