I'm curious as to how some people have financed the cost of the 737 type. Excluding GI Bill as I am a civ.

I'm currently under contract to sell a crashpad which should generate some cash. Unfortunately it won't cover it all.

Thanks

B-737 financing

There are many different ways depending on what company you get the type with. I just check in on all this because I'm going mar 13. You can get an educational loan (career) intrest is between 9.75% and 12.75 with well fargos bank and other banks. These loans must be repayable within 10 years max. There is a company in MIA and DAY that does the B-737 type and you can use Sallie Mae because it is an accredited approved school by the state. Sallie mae is who you use mostly for college. Don't know the rate but significantly lower that a career loan. The type is longer there about 21 days. That is why i did not choose.
I'm using a credit card (Chase) convenience checks to pay. The intrest is 6.99% until the card is paid off. Remember this is a tax right off so you'll get some money back there. If you use CC minimun payment on 10,000 would be about 200 dollars.
If you are laid off (furloughed) you can get money through your state. If you go to www.kandsaviation.com or www.jetcrew.com they talk about different ways as well. Pretty much what I have said.

Wrongo, it's "meeting the application requirements of an employer" if the plane has 51 passenger seats or more, thilly rabbit.

Don't sell it.......get a home equity line of credit, pay for the type rating, and then deduct all the interest at tax time. Problem solved.

Wells Fargo student loans has an agreement with HPA.

Low interest rate, 200ish a month. Go to the Wells Fargo website, HPA is listed along with all the other schools.

Check come made out right to HPA, painless process.

Best of luck

Go to Airtan, upgrade on the 737 then quit when you get picked up by SWA.

Well, CrustyPanties, in the last four years, I have only seen one person leave the left seat here to go somewhere else . . . . and he took his boyfriend flight attendent with him. . . . . . . Is that where you got the idea? Or are you the pilot I'm talking about?

That would explain a lot about you and your bizarre fascination with AirTran. Here's a suggestion . . . . put it in a box, and put it away. Don't go away mad, Girl, just go away.

And we all wish you would just go away. The sooner the better.

Chuck you are pathetic

I have been watching quietly for some time now. Every time Ty posts you have to post something antagonistic right after him.
Do us all a favor and shut up and go away little boy.

I will post whenever I please. go to hell.

And for those who have been following, that would be strike three. Chuck, we have been more than patient at your antics and at some point it has to stop. That point is now. You may say that you'll just be back as another username. That's fine. If you do the same stuff and I link it to you, you'll be out of here again without a second chance. You see, like you, I don't suffer fools graciously either. That's why you're gone as soon as I hit "save".

Do the math. It takes me 4 mouse clicks to ban you. It takes you a lot more to register. You want to keep coming back and causing trouble? I have the time to deal with you.

What would 30+ years of a nightly 12 pack of Pabst or Blatz do to your brain?

It's an investment! If I'm going to invest time and money in a career at a major, it most certainly would be WN. In fact, given that they have never furloughed, maintained annual profitability since 1973, it would be ideotic not to invest in this company, in most circumstances.

Read Peter Lynch's "Beating the Street." This will give you another perspective as to why WN is a solid investment. He speeks of Southwest multiple times in the book.

AvroJockey,

I would agree with you IF your 737 type "investment" would yield a job.

That is not necessarily the case.

You are GAMBLING that once you get the 737 type you will get an interview.

And then you are GAMBLING again that you will be successful in that interview.

Personally, I don't think that an $8500 - $10,000 gamble is reasonable. If Southwest would hire you and then require the type -- then perhaps you could argue that as an "investment".

Most people are not taking that road, however, are they?

So, the question arises; how many people know folks that have recently gotten the call without the type rating or SWA recommendations?

Interviewing Friday the 20th, got the call a week ago.

NO TYPE, one internal letter of rec.

submitted online application about 9 or 10 months ago

When you're on the road and not at home, believe me I'm putting it there, along with the rest of the bros!!!!! I'm suprised you haven't noticed yet, well with you being a snug fit type of guy. HA!

Thank You!
