Hey Guys.. Long time lurker first time poster.

Just want to get the news out that I have finally made it to the big dance. yes I got hired by Continental and have a class date on......9/11

Funny I was like you know this hasn't been the best date for most of us. They got a chuckle out of it.

Looking forward to flying with you guys...I'm on top of the world right now and nothing could knock me down.

They didn't say what the breakdown is or where they are sending them. Guam is senior they did say.

I do know they are going to start hiring like crazy. 500-600 from now to the end of March is what I was told.

Ms. Nixon said they are going to start hiring Monday through Tursday instead of Tuesday through Thursday.

I was told October and on the class dates are going to be running full speed.

Welcome to the family!

Good for you! I felt the same way when it finally happened for me.

Did they say anything about how long they are planning to hire. I heard something like for the next 4-5 years for what it is worth.

More info the better.

Again, Congrats.

Despite what some say it is a great place with a tremendous amount of potential.

Pocono, if you had gotten hired there, would you still be so bitter? You're worse than General VS Southwest!

Congradulations on the job. I remember how good I felt when I got the news. Have fun in Houston in September and get to know your class mates. You will be along side them for decades to come. My class got together a lot for beers/dinner etc. and still keep up today(a whopping 1 year 9 months). The training department does a great job and treats you like a professional.

LOL

Thanks however my wife has excellent insurance and that is what we will be using. More than 1 way around the system.

No they didn't say and I didn't ask. Just that the floodgates were about to open up and my hire date is the perfect time and I will spend minimal time on reserve if I get the 737 due to the high number of people coming on following us.

While I was waiting for the interview I had probably 20-30 pilots stop by to chat with me. They were all wishing me good luck and telling me not to worry and how much I will enjoy flying over here. Even the ones who said they were retiring told me how with all the ups and downs they have really enjoyed thier time at Cal.

Congrats to you!! Even though we're working our asses off, I have to admit I was really excited when I got hired too. Your first year will be very hard, but if you have a strong support team around you, you'll be fine. Welcome aboard.....

I think you are getting on at a great time, by next summer you will easily have a line and avoid the summer reserve flying. Honestly, it has been a rough summer for many CAL pilots. But I believe there is a lot of potential here.

the flying is great, the crews are excellent, and the equipment on the way is exciting. good luck and see ya on line.

You know, once upon a time, Flightinfo was an actual board about interviews....

So, As a service to all you should post up the answers to the following:
-Your Total Time and where you came from
-Any and All gouge on the interview/hiring process

Just an idea, while its still reasonably fresh in your mind.

You will enjoy it. Once I make my commute to EWR, I have enjoyed 99% of the people I have flown with. Congrats and we definitely need more pilots on-line. They were junior manning on the 737 like crazy last weekend.

1st year goes by quick? It's like watching grass grow!!!!

If it's going by that slowly, you're obviously not working enough. Get it in gear!

Take it easy on Pocono.....her BFF just got hired at SWA and she's bummed out, LOL.

I'm not bummed out that she got hired, I am actually jumping for joy about it. I am a little bummed that she won't go to groundschool until the spring though.

Not to mention, the first one to get hired at a major owes the other one a day at the spa.

So, it looks like I get a free spa date out of it.

So, I am pretty happy about that. Now just to get me on over there. LOL

the first 7 have gone by pretty quick. Looking forward not back this is goiing to be great. Never even thought once about staying.

Thanks to everyone.. Can't wait to start.

I was told (IAH CP) that the 30 new aircraft are going to replace some of the older ones (this was before the 500 anouncement) and to put on some lines that the the RJ is doing perhaps. Also freeing up some 75s doing transcon so more international will be available as well.

Cle wants more traffic so might see a little improvement there and well the said when the 787 arrives "It will vastly open opportunities for international out of IAH"
retirements looking at 1 per day until then end of the year then 1 every other day next year.

I hope everyone finally makes it to where they want...
