I have just been accepted to the FFDO program however the material they sent me doesn't really explain in detail what the training consist of. Anyone been through it that would like to shed a little light would be appreciated!! Thanks!!

Here is everything you need to know right from the source. It outlines exactly what the training consists of.
Real specific info is this document.

One thing no one told me was that they supply your entire wardrobe (sans underwear and socks) for the week. I packed a lot of clothes and didn't need to. Food is good. Training is excellent. Recurrent training is set up very nice as well. Private message me if you would like to know more.

Right now there is a motion in Congress to allow FFDOs to carry their weapon full time. That would be nice.

Lequip,

So, I was just wondering. What is the door made of that stands between the passengers and the cockpit? Can you pry through it or does it take a large amount of force?

A lot of info is likely available on the web, doesn't me you should give someone crap for not wanting to spread it like wildfire.

Sometimes you just have to ask yourself if you are being a moron before you speak.

I heard training involves getin' hitched with your sister and wearing a cowboy hat. Pray to the NRA or Heston at night.

I flew with a guy the other week so wrapped up in having a f'in gun, he couldn't fly worth a **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED**. Good priorities.

If you can't get through the door, why do I need a gun?

The first 500 people that applied for the FFDO program should of been tossed out from the get go for mental incompetance. Why is it the majortity, and I know most will agree, of the FFDO are the power hungry, holier than though, I am special because I went through the program, I know a secret and you don't people. Give me a break folks.

TR4A you are so a FFDO with your comments. LOL Get a life dude.

hahah...."not the place to talk about it" You idiot. Like other people said just try to Google it. IT IS NOT A SECRET!

i was going to address this to a specific person but this applies to all that have posted on this thread:

ALL OF YOU:

Why do you all have such a complex against FFDO's.... The majority of us (MYSELF INCLUDED) were strongly effected by 9/11. I personally was furloughed, and spent a year unemployed... I have lost many good years of senority, and we have ALL lost the industry that once was!

The FFDO is nothing but another peice of safety equipment. It is a person that is trained to stop a hijacker from comendering the aircraft, and driving it into a populated area.

If you are not an FFDO, and you are not flying with one, you better pray that you have some armed leo's in your cabin, because at the first sign of distress in your cockpit, you will be shot down by our military before you can squawk 7700.

Just about everything in the FFDO program is considered SSI (that is Sensitive Security Information). As an FFDO you take an oath and sign on the dotted line that you will not speak about what the goverment calles SSI... IF you have the abilitiy to go on the internet and find out what it is all about, MORE POWER TO YOU... GO GET THE INFO... Shoot, maybe you should email AlJazera the web links you find out while you are at it!

I have no doubt that the info is accessable with enough searching... The problem I have is you DOGGING a fellow aviator for VOLUNTEERING his time to protect our country! VOLUNTEERING his time an MONEY to prevent another 9/11.... YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF FOR DOGGING ANYONE FOR UPHOLDING THIER WORD IN THE OATH THAT FFDO'S TAKE TO KEEP OUR PROGRAM SECRET!

av8tor4239,
Could you please be a bit more discreet? It seems you make every attempt to make sure people know you're an FFDO, look at your avatar and FIDO "position". Sir, you are not a spokesman for the program, let them speak, and research for themselves. I appreciate your enthusiasm but, the SSI you speak of is just what you are borderline violating. I realize that this is not some Area 51 top secret crap but some judgement should be used. Thanks, not a flame sir...

You will not be shot down, a lone fighter a/c does not have the authority to drop a commercial aircraft out of the sky without a direct order from multiple people on the ground, unless the airliner is in immediate danger to national security i.e. prohibited areas, D.C. If we had the authority to shoot down any supicous aircraft that little C172 2 weeks ago would have been a much easier target to take out rather than an airliner with many people on board. Interceptor aircraft do not want the burden on their shoulders of taking out a commercial airliner.
