I was flying lighter twins with 22 hours of multi. I think that my sales company sends so much referrrals to the insurance folks that they are allowed to have a guy with 320 hours on the payroll. Otherwise I really can't see anyone with lower time getting a ferry job b/c yes the insurance folks run it all. I flew someones Seneca and the insurance mins were crazy. Something like 1500 hours, 500 multi and 100 time in type. Lets just say we both looked the other way.........

I'm new to the whole commercial pilot thing but isnt that illegal?
Yea, it's illegal for a commercial pilot to be a commercial pilot.

If you hold the certificate, it should be taken away from you.

Who the heck told you that?

Holding your self out as a provider of public transportation is one thing.

Advertising your services as a commerical pilot / Instructor is something else entirely.

Hmmm. I sense the work of an inbred flight school with this particular "fact"...

Correct, the insurance companies are running the show these days, which is just too bad. 15-16 years ago I flew for dealer for a few months... with a whopping 50 hrs ME time he turned me loose in C-401/402s, Aztecs, Twin Comanches, etc.

Why NOW would the insurance companies be more strict than before? According to the NTSB 2004 and 2005 have been the safest years ever for GA in both fatal and non-fatal accidents. Something doesn't add up. Anyone know why?

9/11/2001 <------ Because of what happened on that day the insurance companies have lost their minds.

I agree with Dcat here. That, and the stunt the kid pulled with the 172 in TPA.

Nothing really has changed, but they have the pricing power to inflict much higher rates now.

Lots of low end rental spots and mom-n-pops have closed up shop for this very reason.

As long as the 9/11 flag is being waved, it will continue. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that we should forget, but at some point we're going to need to press on.

Something tells me this was heavily laden with sarcasm on the whole "selling yourself" statement.
