Actually sometimes we have had piston twins taken over to Asia, with ferry systems installed, then brought back afterwards.

Yes I know taking a turboprop someplace with no mods is not a ferry, but when a C-340 is sent to India, with internal tanks installed, that sure is, even though it will be brought back
 
It can be done,

Skyview will do the tanking and get the permit takes about 2 weeks.

I have room in this 172 to Middle East if you are under 150lbs

I will have room in the King Air C-90 that will get 450 gallons of fuel.

I will have room in the DA-42 to India.
