Anyone have any insight on how to become an a/c dispatcher for FedEx?

What's the process?
Who do you talk to?
Where are the positions posted?
Does FedEx hire from the street?
What are the experience requirements?

fedex hasn't hired from outside the company in over 5 years. the only way to get in is to work in another department for at least a year before bidding on dispatch job postings. the jobs postings are only posted internally. i worked for 9 years in the hub before making it over to GOC. there were 22 people that applied for the last position. 18 of them had a license. i was the only person with dispatch experience.

That's about what I thought, but I wasn't sure.

Thanks for the response! Does it typically take that long to get to GOC? Did your previous experience shorten your wait at all?

i got my ticket in 2004. it took me 13 months to the day to get into GOC.
they typically post 1-3 positions a year. that number should increase in the next couple of years due to international growth and dispatchers retiring.
