FedEx/UPS Resign Senority

Do any Brown or Purple new-hires know if you still have to resign senority if furloughed from a Major? Is there a formal process? Is this a day one item? It seems like they would not be concerned of someone returning to pax in this market. I have no desire to return but I love my travel benefits.

Travel benefits? Dude go to Brown or Purple, make good money and I say screw standby travel. Go full fare.

If thats your major concern, they (UPS) will probably not offer you a job. I know what you are saying, My wife is a 18 year FA with AA. Its always nice to travel options. But if we had to choose between hers job and mine, I think BigBrown will win and I dont hink she would skip a step in resigning...

Talk to your sponsor. FedEx is VERY concerned about your background and who you are working for/furloughed from. This may be changing but it has held back many an applicant since 9/11.

We (Fedex) get non-rev benefits on other airlines. Sure, your wife can't go on the Fedex plane (though you can), but you can buy passes for other airlines.

Or were you looking for something where you wife could travel alone, like to see her family, or to meet you? THAT isn't a reason not to go work for Fedex!!!! You can buy tickets- SWA, Delta now, lots of good deals for the few flights a year she will take without you. Lots of guys fly their spouses in for long layovers that way.

We had a guy leave FDX for AA after the first week of Basic Indoc in March of 2001. The deciding factor was that his wife wanted the travel benefits. . . .

I travel with my wife at least once a quarter. We almost always buy a ticket for her on the internet (I usually catch a FedEx flight and meet her there). The industry discounts for standby tickets are generally higher than what you can buy on the internet if you work more than two weeks out.

We don't use SWA cause we live in Memphis and its not worth the drive for us.
You don't go to FedEx for the travel benefits for the family.

By the way, round trip swa stby tickets are $88 to anywhere they fly. JetB offers $70 rt. AA offers cost by the mile. ie dallas to santa barbara, ca was $125 rt. dallas to san antonio rt was $86. all these include $18 service charge by the corporate travel agency. other airlines offer deals as well.

The recent new hires at FedEx in the last several months (nov/dec) all had the opportunity to bid right seat MD-11 and will begin training by the start of their second year. Try $117/hour second year and think about how much you need that travel benefit from the pax carrier.

Things in life always have the chance of changing. But as things stand now, your concern is Laughable.
