There were 126 "open postions" for 727 S/Os on the practice bid. Final closes on Tuesday. Hopefuly they will fill them all!

It looks like Albie might even finally get that window seat....DARN!, I couldn't wait for him to serve me a cup of coffee!;)

Got the panel on the -10, fourth from the bottom. BwwwAAAAAAHHH!

Might be my chance to get off "Das Boot"!!!

Albie, I know you mentioned earlier that you missed ANC MD-11 by something like 1 # before? Does that mean your in now? How long from your DOH to MD-11 FO? 2-3yrs?

Practice bids are well known for being skewed, specifically toward the bottom of each seat = people having second thoughts about being a "bottom-feeder" on a new seat.

But I hope I still move up as I did on the practice bid, but not counting on it.

SandMan is right, the practice bids really doesn't mean diddly squat. If you make the cut on the practice bid than more than likely you will do just as good if not a lot better on the real bid. A lot of people back out last minute and you'll hold something more than you thought.

Example, I was a second officer and last years April PRACTICE BID came out...the guy one number senior to me got the LAST 727 FO secondary spot. Man was I  pissed, I thought I would be stuck on the panel for another bid cycle (at least 6 months). Well when the FINAL BID came out I couldn't find my name anywhere on the 727 FO list NOR could I find my name anywhere on the 727 SO list...what in the heck! So I go and check the LAX 11 FO list and there was my name  ...third from the bottom...I made it:D , a window seat!

Keep your fingers cross, there is a good chance you will get more than you expect. Good Luck!

USNFDX,

Well...if I FLEX or get an LCA spot I will gladly pour you a cup of Memphis's finest. If not...well...here's hoping I can hold B reserve.

ILS--no...I have missed ANC by about 60 numbers. ANC has not gone that junior for 2-3 bids. Looks like my dreams of a Girdwood crashpad will have to wait a few years.

Point to ponder...on this bid the top 50% of 727 FOs could have held Captain. The messages that sends could be translated lots of ways, but some that come to mind are A- seniority is critical to a good Q of Life at FDX B- the pressure/responsibility of captain is not worth the pay increase . Captain I flew with last night said he held Captain at 78% total seniority...something he said would never have happened at any of his previous carriers. Very likely we'll see the company wanting some "up or out" pressure applied in the next contract.

Disregard 50% can hold captain in previous post. FO on flight in said that, but when I checked the numbers it was only 99 or so out of 336....which even in my world doesn't add up to 50%

Albie, Girdwood is an excelent crashpad location - a bit of a drive, but can't beat the location! Is it normal for FDX guys to not live in base - like ANC?

:D Man, the practice bid shows I've already moved up a whole percentile!!! Now, if I could just figure out who all those people below me named, "***Position Open***" are...
