Hello all,

Is there any info on the FedEx pool? ie: # on people in it, possible class dates, # per class, etc?

I got the good FedEx letter...I think (no call, just letter).

"This is not an offer of employment however you have successfully completed our selection process. You are now in a pool 'eligable' for hire... Don't call us, we'll call you..."

Is this code for: "You're in we just don't have a class for you yet" or is there still a possibility of a rejection?

I'm sure you call all appreciate my eagerness for information. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!

Metro

My letter said the exact same thing.....

I have been wondering about that, too (#poolies, class dates, etc.). It seems like the earliest poolies are from Jan 5/6.

Any people from before that date swimming???

Anyone else have any info?

CONGRATS!

See ya in MEM!

I think you just answered your own question. You'll know before anyone else on the line knows. I'm sure when posting 06-01 comes out it will be on here the second it comes out on VIPS.

Congrats........you're in the pool!!

Just got an email from ALPA saying that it rejected management's proposal for moving packages to ANC, saying it was insufficient. Could be the reason the bid is delayed?

Metro,

Congrats to you! I got the same letter. It means they want to hire you. The lawyer speak is in there so you can't sue FedEx later when you have quit your current job and FedEx doesn't hire anyone because their plans changed. (Not that this should happen, but you never know.)

I am dying to know about class dates too. All I have heard is possibly April. Pretty vague, but that's all I have. See you in MEM! :D

The Dude is in too.....dam# glad to be here. Feb 8/9, we were 6 for 6.

Since the 06-01 bid still has not come out yet I would think mid-late April would be the absolute earliest next training class. Make sure you got lots of air in your floaties, it could be a couple of months. Don't let any of the poolies hired back in '02 hear you whine, they were swimming for a long time!

No whiners. I'll float around happily for however long it takes.

Congratulations, you’re in! As posted above, you will be the first to know. Every month I was told “maybe next month” and I floated in the pool for 22-months! I still have pruned hands and feet and can’t get to sleep without my floaties near by.

KAFTKTA,

What did you do for those 22 months you were in limbo? My hubby is in the process of being sponsored in, and we got a letter from our sponsor the other day that said they are suspending the meet n greets until the "mother of all bids" is done next month with the MD 11 transition. It also said all furloughed pilots had preference, and they had so many qualified people, that they had to catch up from the hiring in August, to finally placing people now! I hope we are not waiting 22 months! I can't take the stress!!!

Congrats! That is awesome news!!!

(my hubby flies the C-17 now and is out in April)

Not true.

Were you told "maybe next month" by KD or someone in HR or was that what you heard from your buds on the line? I'm a 5/6 Jan poolie, got the call on 2 Feb with the pool letter the next day. Haven't heard anything since. Did HR keep you updated at all during that 22 month swim? I'm trying to make sure I stay in town as much as possible (turning down longer trips with my Reserve unit) because I don't want to miss a call. I figure the quickest way to get a class date is to leave on a 2 week trip:
Initial takeoff from McChord eastbound -
PF: "Positive rate, gear up"
Me: "Gear up" -- phone rings at my house offering me a class date in 10 days.

I don't mind waiting in the pool, I'm just wondering if I'll get any heads up from the company that it's gonna be awhile so I can make plans to pay the bills in the meantime. Any ex-poolies have any info they can share about their pool experience? Thanks.

Loser-

You need to talk to TB. He was swimming for quite a while the last time FedEx had poolies. PM me if you need his digits or email.

Beertini

P.S. I'm waiting for...

I'm interested in this as well. Does anyone have any input? I'm so tempted to call HR and ask, but know I shouldn't.

The reason the company is creating a 'hiring pool' is so they can potentially put newhires directly into the right seat of either narrow or wide body a/c. BUT, to avoid having to pay 'passover pay', the company is giving everyone on property an opportunity to upgrade. So with that being said, a new training bid should be out very soon (should have been posted already!)

The bid will be open for 28 days, close and then seat awards posted (about one week to sort things out). If there are still vacancies in the right seat of some a/c then I would anticiapate a new hire class of just FO's. IF a lot of people decide to upgrade then the next class might be all SO's. It will be interesting to see what current pilots do since the union turned down the companies move package proposal to ANC. So if you are asking if you are going to get a call for a class date in the next month, my guess would highly unlikely. At least another 6 weeks more likely at the earliest.

Just pure speculation on my part FWIW but I feel the info is fairly accurate. As Tom Petty would say "...The waiting is the hardest part..."

PT,

Thanks for the information. I will try to be patient. I agree with Tom Petty. It is hard to wait. At least I still have a job to pay the bills! :)

If it is a non-FDA it will close in 14 days, and plan to see it published ASAP, probably the next day.

I was in the pool 22 months as well...never thought it would be that long. I gave KD a call or an email every couple months to check the satus. With the companies want/need to hire hundreds of pilots this year, there is no way the current poolies will be swimming that long, I'd say a month or two max. Hang in there, you'll be the first to know.
