FedEx guys, please, say it ain't so!!!!!

I had a FedEx jumpseater this morning and he mentioned (without me asking) that he had heard that the director of Flight ops.. I guess B Cheever?? Was wanting to re-evaluate their hiring process, due to accident rate... He also said that he heard that all the pool guys/gals would have to interview again....

I realize this was just posted the other day by someone else, I did not believe it then... However, I have never heard a FedEx pilot say it until today...

I AM ONLY ASKING, I AM NOT WANTING TO START RUMORS...Please do not take it out on me.. I sure don't want it to be true.. Been trying to call KD all day...

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I hope this one is not true. It was hard enough to get through the first one.

Hey waitinginline call me if you talk to KD

I wonder what the legal ramifications of that might be. "SOoo, you're telling me I was qualified before, and I'm not now? Can you explain that to my attorney?"

Tony

I doubt there are legal ramifications. They never promised us a job. The letter stating you are in the pool looks carefully worded. I think I would feel gyped, but not be calling an attorney.

Waitinginline:

I have been trying to get a hold of KD for some time now- can you PM me the number you are using? The old one isn't working and the one someone PM'ed me didn't work either.

Thanks

No clue

I'm just another SO (who doesn't do draft...), but...

If you guys really do have to re-interview, go in with the understanding a bunch of guys who interviewed you before are on your side. You cannot gaff it off and not take it seriously, but at the same time anyone in the training dept has got to be going "YGTBSM! Why are we doing this to people" Besides, you nailed it the first time, so you'll likely do just fine on round 2.

Not promising anything as I have no idea if there is any truth to this or when/where/how you will reinterview, but over beers at the hotel bar I'll gladly help any former poolie who wants to practice interviewing. All it will cost you is your time (and maybe a beer) As this thing shakes out I'm sure we can work something out. There is no reason for this BS...

Hang tough guys.

B Cheever?? Was wanting to re-evaluate their hiring process, due to accident rate...

Loosely translated: "I have to protect MY job, so I will do anything that has to be done. Including but not limited to making training harder, having lots of meetings, firing people that have nothing to do with flight ops, and firing people that aren't even here yet".

Don't have a heart attack. That may have been said, but until they call and tell you to put on your dark blue suit and red tie... well ya know. I think most of the rumors I've ever heard that have not come to fruition were said to originate from him. So either he starts them to see how far they get, or he doesn't know what he's talking about. Either way, no reason to sweat it.

Standby. Go to this link while your waiting. It's quite amusing. I think it was posted on FLightinfo somewhere before:

Never mind

Just got off the phone... Strictly a rumor!!!

SORRY to cause any alarm.....

On the other hand, VaB just showed us a great new source of avatars!:D

I wonder?????

Since contract openers are only 2 weeks away, I wonder if someone out there is starting to screw with crewmembers - and they're not even on the property yet! ..

Just my conspiracy theory for the night -

Q - How do you know MANAGEMENT is lying? You guessed it, they're moving their mouths!;)

keep a cool head

Poolies.

While anything is possible, I've stated before and I'll state again. FedEx has always honored their pool. They have also never furloughed. It is a reputation thing. In the next 10 years, when the pax carriers are hiring like mad dogs again, the feel on the street will be that FedEx is a safe bet, always has been, always will be. FedEx does not want to jerk peoples chains around by hiring until they furlough and vice/versa.

I think they like having the clean past of honoring the pool and no furloughs. Expect nothing to change.

Breathe deeply, drink a beer, and get your butts on the property so I can stop carrying the coffee jug!

bring the poolies on!

Get those dudes on the property so us FEDEX wantabees can at least get interviewing! 18 months of no new blood is not good for any system

Goose, if you upgrade to the right seat of the Bus or MadDog (MD10) you're still going to have to carry the coffee jug. :(

It's a rough job but someone has to do it.

NightFlyer

I would love to, but...

As much as I would love to upgrade to a widebody right seat, I must be realistic. With the postal contract "hirees" in the tune of 450+ pink bodies or so ahead of guys like me and Albie15, I think it will be sometime before we carry the coffee jug again after upgrade. I can taste the right seat of the 727, but it is not quite dinner time yet.

Here is the problem with the jug: As a 727 panel guy, I have a skinny wallet. I carry this rather heafty coffee jug with no counterweight to and fro around the country and thus am starting to look like the hunchback from notre dame. The widebody types have a nice counterweight (wallet) to offset the industrial strength, not quite fitting, coffee jug.

Although I dream about walking tall and standing straight, I must accept my fate and keep using the extra thick ear plugs!

(livin' the dream)

I developed tendonitis in my right shoulder from pulling up on the jug trying to get it in that G-- D--- bracket.

No kidding. I've been to the doctor and gotten a cortisone shot for it!

Huck,

You have to learn NOTHING in the job is worth rushing or straining over. I heard a horrific story about a guy who strained a back removing a pubs case, then had it operated on. Had some minor nerve damage, lost a medical... bad news... Also, several folks have gotten seriuosly hurt on stairs. Move slow, use 1 hand on the stairs, and watch your back. This place is an erognomic nightmare.

Slow down. Don't strain. If the jug won't fit let it bang around behind your seat...it wont' hurt a darn thing (ops tested!)

Heard a good line today..."if you want to learn about year four S/O pay rates, just keep doing draft..."

No kidding--reserves are getting abused right now and economy is picking up. We are going to be needing folks soon.
