Just another idiot media-type that slings out a bogus headline and it makes it to the top front page to the Memphis Commercial Repeal business section as the "lead" story. Story is right because factual, or any semblence thereof, it is absolutely not. Ms. Jane needs to read her own story before putting this krap out on the wire. The contracts at UPS and FedEx are completely different animals with distintinctly different mechanics. I think what Mr Webb said was that FedEx would use the UPS TA as a base to build upon. I did not hear anyone salivating over the UPS TA. The few pilots I have talked with absolutely did not like it and their own negotiating committee has minimal support for it.

I didn't detect anything in the article that was too much this or that, she just said "likes". Could have been a tounge in cheeck comment, you know, like when you say that snazzy car was "BAD"!

Kind of like last night when my best friend's bride opened her like hole at 12:00 midnight at their wedding reception and said something like I knew for more than a year that she was going to say and out of like for the groom I didn't like punch her in like her throat.

Don't believe anything Jane Roberts writes. The only good thing the Communist Appeal is for is to house train a puppy.

Wow. $206 an hour to press some buttons and prop your feet up on the console.

And you want more?

How difficult is your job?

Think of a good pilot like you would a good insurance policy.

What does a good insurance policy do for you? You are writing a big check each month/year for a piece of paper with a bunch of lawyer jargin on it that sits in your desk. How often do you actually file a claim? But you keep writing those big checks and you're not getting anything in return.

But lets say something DOES happen to that beautiful dream house that you've worked so hard for...a fire destroys it, a flood swallows it, a tornado hits, a hurricane comes along, whatever...do you want some second rate insurance company or do you want a premium insurance company?

Our job isn't that difficult but when the chit hits the fan at least the company knows they have a good insurance policy at the wheel:p And that is why we, and every other Major airline pilot, get paid what we do and we are worth every penny of it and more.

Stick that in your pipe and smoke it:pimp:

Flying is Easy. So is being a Lawyer after Law school. What's the point. Mexicans are here digging ditches in 115 degree heat in TX for 3.00/hr. Who Cares. How hard you work has nothing to do with how much cash you pull in. You earn what you force the market to bear. "Fairness" is for pre-school.

We dont get paid for what we do...we get paid for what we know.

Who knows how bad things could have turned out in MEM, TLH, EWR, SUB or wherever if there had not been some highly trained over paid professional behind the controls.

FN FAL...what did this gal say? Inquiring minds want to know...

I'm still trying to digest it, but in reality I'm thinking I just heard a prison door slam shut on an old friend. About 3-4 other groomsmen appear to be locked out as well. I've never seen such a thing, but it wasn't a surprise.

Sorry about the vent and back to the article, maybe the article should be about whether or not the UPS pilots "Like" their new contract? Wouldn't that be more appropriate?

My clothes still reek of slow death and oxen $hit from my lovely 3 days in Delhi. Putting up with that instead of being home with my wife and kids is worth a hell of a lot more than $206 an hour.

You'd be amazed at how many pilots would gladly sit in Delhi for alot less than $206/hr.

And those are the very pilots that are killing this industry by undercutting their brothers for a cheaper pay rate..............I wouldn't be amazed at all

You've correctly ID'ed the problem with the industry and highlighted yourself negatively in the process. There ARE in fact plenty of people (like you perhaps?) who would sit in Delhi or wherever for a lot less. By advocating this, you are only dragging the industry down.

The point isn't that someone else would do it for less. The point is that nobody should do it for less. We should all be happy that atleast someone is raising the salary bar instead of sniping about how plenty would be willing to take less--it just hurts everyone.

How many times do we have to go over and over this? Maybe your perspective will change when it's you getting paid real money to sit in some dump! (Yes yes, I know you sit in some dumps right now, we all have, blah blah blah...Waaaaahhhhhh.)

what is a lot of money is all in your perspective. A million dollars to some people is a lot and to others..it is nothing.
