Fedex New Hire question

Was under the impression we were going to push it up in Jan , but only 1 class has started...

The last class started on the 3rd, so they are keeping in the pattern of new hire classes that they have for the past few years. Class starts one monday, then another the next monday, and then a 3 week break and another class starts. Kind of a 2 on, 3 off deal. They will still have started 3 classes this month, which is sweeeeeeeeet.

I tried to get a resume to 2 different ACPs last week and was not able to. They would not accept it. Said the backlog was too large right now to put new names into the pile. I was told that maybe by the end of Feb or early March the meet and greets would start up again and that an FCIF would announce the fact. I've heard the 70 per month rumors but the ACP didn't use that number, just that things were going to pick up here soon.

We've been hiring 30 a month, so if things pick up from there, I'd hope for at least one more class per month, but that could just be wishful thinking.

I also have heard that folks who got meet and greets in the Sep time frame are now starting to get interview calls for Feb.

Just some unsubstantiated info. Take it for what its worth.

There is another LCA and Flex meeting on Thursday, so more rumors should be out by the weekend.

Oh, one other rumor.....no one needs to have a 737 type rating to get hired.

And to get back ON the subject...

Next new-hire class on Monday the 23rd. Haven't heard the numbers, but I'd guess 16 or so.

Expect the next class a couple of weeks later (ie 6 Feb) unless they change things.

Of course......it's all rumor until we see the numbers!

SWA/FO sounds like just another commuter guy that is trying to sound like he has it better than most and he does, but not better than anyone at FedEx. SWA is a good commuter with Herb getting them to work their asses off with no retirement and they love it. But a commuter just the same.

He knows that Fred Smith and Herb started the same year 72' and now look where the two companies are. SWA started with 737s and now they have a bunch of them, and good for them. Does any airline fly anything smaller than a 737?
Fred started with Falcons and now has the largest wide body fleet in the world and getting bigger with big airplanes as fast as he can.
FedEx runs through over a billion dollars in revenue every two weeks. Our stock is 100 bucks, LUV is what 16 or 17? Give me a break.
Fred could buy Herb any day.
Why would any guy want to work for a good US company flying their butts off for less pay when they could fly world wide in big plans (or hop around the US just like SWA--less legs though) with a truly global company growing very fast?
I have a 737 type but I got hired at FedEx before the application window opened in 96' god was I lucky!!! Best job on the planet if you fly airplanes.
