Age 65 bill is a done deal, and has severely altered the bid. Timeline TBD.
DISREGARD.

See FedEx Bid on pg. 6 by Captain Mark

got some interesting news yesterday..talked to a manager and his thoughts were the 757 may now be in the picture again and it will obviously affect the bid..his thoughts only..we will see

Boeing was supposedly on the property last month pitching (begging Fedex to buy) the 75 / 76. Doubt that would affect this bid.

Anybody got info on JL's email about the seat bid being delayed? Very cryptic email.

Typical JL email, always makes me laugh.

Sounds like he is pissed that a lot of captains d!cked up the 'forecasting' model by putting in SO standing bids and they can not figure out how many captains they really need. Expect the bid out later this coming week.

I would not be surprised if the company DOES NOT hire into the right seat of the MD. I still think a lot of SO will upgrade instead of being stuck in the back for another couple of years. Who knows, as always time will tell.

Gotta love this company though...I have a charter flight from Perth, Australia to Johannasburg, South Africa next month:cool: that ought to be interesting.

That is for sure, and I don't blame them a bit. It is time to start getting some "uncryptic" emails and some explainations that actually make sense.

Yeah, I've been hearing about the 757's again now as well. Supposedly, we were about to buy a bunch of Delta's, but then Delta decided not to sell them yet. Now there are FedEx people in ATL with "suitcases of money" waiting for them to give them up.

I looked long and hard at ANC last time. Nice lines, I love the town, a little adventure for the family.

But the bottom line is: the same money for moving 4600 miles.

In 1989 when I was a $25,000/year engineer for the DoD, they paid me $2600 to drive to California in my old Jeep.

Jack's gonna have to cough it up if he wants to keep new hires out of the Mighty Dog.....

Agreed

VAb,

I think you right on target. I'm thinking the VP for flight ops is really the power center for a lot of this. Sure would like to see 757s in Purple. Everytime I park next to one of UPS'...I think, "Man, I'd like to fly that jet."

New Hire Classes?

Anybody heard anything about the new hire classes being put back on because the bid is delayed??

Bottom line..there will be a bid soon..and we are/will be hiring lots of pilots...that is good...the contract is another story

The company has already said that the move will be on their dime NOT yours. I have a feeling that will be enough to get quit a few current SO out of the back and moving on.

I just don't see how anyone could stay in the back plumbing for another couple of years. I know flying is kind of like riding a bike but the skills DO deteriorate after time.

Everyone has their own matrix of money, time off, job satisfaction, etc etc. However, even flying in the ANG I was ready to bail off the panel at the first chance. I have a few friends that stayed, however 95% of them are doing a flex or LCA type gig so the money is there as if they were on a right seat. Both jobs, however, require a committment to the company and another layer of scheduling bureacracy. That works if you have a very flexible Guard job or if that is all you are doing, but it does get a bit tough if you need to do a lot of adjustments on your schedule. I am glad I got to see the job, but I've thrilled to get to actually fly the 727 now. For those on the fence--I highly recommend the upgrade. You know the plane, you know the trips--and I thought the training program was easier than S/O program...

Here's a New One

Heard yesterday that one of the reasons the bid was delayed was the French have put the brakes on the Paris domicle because of our open pilot contract. I'm laughing out loud while I type!

Relax fellas! Since when has the MOAB been delayed?? In JL's original e-mail, he stated that they were shooting for a Feb posting. Last time I checked, my calendar still said February. "Shooting for" is not a concrete date. The bid will be out soon enough.

Bottom line is we need alot of guys on the property. The bean counters are just trying to figure out how to do it the cheapest way possible. Give em some slack jack!

Keep the rumors going though........I love the entertainment!

Crew Bus Rumor

Heard that two versions of bid are up at mgt waiting for a decision. One version is MOAB with seat locks and new hires to WBs, other version is traditional 200 WB Captain bid. Mgt trying to figure out if MOAB would really save them $.
