Noticed that the FEDEX app requires 1000 PIC in fixed wing >20,000 lbs MTOW, but says nothing about it being turbine. Does that mean 1,000 pic on a DC-3 or DC-6 would meet the min's but 1,000 in a Beech 1900 or Citation would not?

Website Requirements

This is directly off their website...

1500 hours total fixed-wing time as pilot-in command (PIC) or first officer (SIC) including a minimum 1000 hours PIC in fixed-wing jet, fixed wing multi-engine turbo-prop, or combination thereof.
Note: PIC for this purpose is defined as Captain/Aircraft Commander of record, not simply the sole manipulator of the controls.
Note: FedEx considers only pilot time in fixed wing aircraft toward minimum qualifications. This does not include simulator, helicopter, flight engineer, bombardier, navigator, RIO, EWO, WSO, NFO, or Special Crew.

It says nothing about >20,000 lbs. I do know that JetBlue has that requirement...

Good Luck!

Pulled right off their web page:

"1500 hours total fixed-wing time as pilot-in command (PIC) or first officer (SIC) including a minimum 1000 hours PIC in fixed-wing jet, fixed wing multi-engine turbo-prop, or multi-engine recip over 20,000 LBGW or combination thereof. "

Looks like the 1000 hrs can be in a jet, a multi-engine turboprop OR a recip>20,000 lbs.

Somehow you are reaching an out of date page. The current requirements no longer count recip time.

Maybe you need to hit refresh...

I have a different question for you folks. Sorry if this takes some time to set up. I've been working as a package handler (very part-time) for Fedex Ground for the better part of forever. I actually started when it was owned by Roadway, nine years ago. Anyway, I have heard that guys that worked at Express for some time could get hired or interviews, something. I guess my question is twofold:
1. Do they do any hiring from within express?
2. Do they do any hiring from within if you are in a different unit of the company?
It sounds like the same question, I just wanted to be clear. I am working on the PIC time requirement, slowly. Just curious if this is an avenue worth exploring, or am I on a dead end street?

For you, yes, you are screwed. You don't meet the minimum height restriction of 5 feet. Besides, dork jet time doesn't count as a real airplane. Sorry

FedEx mins are: Prior Marine, Navy or USAF.

Try Hitting It New!

Just for grins I went to the FedEx Website and found the current Qualifications state only jet and TProp, no Recip. I will say that when I hit the link as provided by SkiHercDrvr it redirected to the mainpage, but if I hit stop I could see the "old" recip >20,000 lbs part.

Either way it is old and the CURRENT mins do not include recip...as per the website.

Oh, and inline, you forgot the likes of Pinnacle, and Commair. While there are a lot of former and retired military pilots working and getting hired, there is a very large group of civilian guys too. I have noticed that I fly with an equal number of civilian trained and military folks in the Boeing.

YES, in fact the corporate policy prefers hiring from within.

NO. The policy only extends to employees of FedEx Express.

FedEx will hire you untill American or Northwest is hiring...just tell em so at the interview. No need in being shy about it.
