To all who might be interested:

In a memo from GD, as of approx. 8 Mar 06, FedEx meet and greets with the ACPs are back on. Contact your sponsors to have them schedule an appointment for you.

Best of luck!

Silly me thought 'Meet and Greets back on' meant your sponsor could actually set one up. I'm hearing they are booked solid for April already as of the close of business Monday, and that they will not schedule any for May yet. Anyone else have any experience trying to set one up?

Grrrrr....

I couldn't get through Monday. When I finally got through today I was told the same thing you were...all full.

This is ridiculous.

Ya know what's coming right? We were talking about this last night.

Meet and greets are going to become as hard to get as an interview, so they'll start a new thing: The Meet and Greet Meet and Greet. That's right, two (2) unofficial interviews before the actual interview. So, I can see an ACP during Meet and Greet #1 saying: "Ya know, Bill, I can see recommending your applicant for Meet and Greet #2, but I don't think I'll be able to get him an interview. So, I'll see ya in 2 months for the bad news".

I agree, it is getting a little out of hand. I understand that they have a buttload of applications, but I'm not sure if the pre-interview torture is necessary.

Schedule two months out

I just heard that sponsors are now required to schedule meet & greets two months in advance. Do you guys even know YOUR schedules two months out?

Hear that sound? I think it's missed opportunity for seniority rushing past.

Gotta go - time to make another crossing...

Any current FedEx types have the real scoop here? Please tell me this hasn't degraded into a footrace among sponsors- How many made it in to this M&G window? From what I am hearing, numerous sponsors were unable get anyone to answer the phone or call them back. Was there a pre-existing M&G pool?

Meathead,

Apparently that was the case. I had a friend of mine who's sponsor tried and tried to get him his meet and greet at the opening bell. No one called him back, and when he finally got a hold of someone, they said off the record that for the most part, the appts were filled before the opening bell. Kind of like insider trading. What a shame! Like many others, he has been waiting patiently for his meet and greet, with a pending separation looming soon, and now must continue to wait. Next time they open up appts, it will probably look like the first night at a blockbuster movie, with guys camping out in tents the week before to get their guy in. I wonder how all of those tents in the AOC will affect the AM launch? I know we have alot of qualified applicants, but what a waste of everyone's time!

Osmosis -

Thanks for the info - was afraid that was the case. Hopefully I can break the code before I'm 60. I will not give up, I will not give up, I will not give up..........................................................................................

This IS bull********************, and it should be changed. I tried to set one one up, and got "call back Apr xx." I realize 10K are in the app pool, but only "meet and greetin" a quarter of that or less will not ensure the best hires. Look, I know the new hires wil be good, but only dudes that get bumrush the M&G secretary at all hours will get their guys hired. I've liked our overall hiring policy, but I don't dig the new M&G policy.

This procedure reminds me of when we had to get our bags hand-searched after 9/11.

"Unencumbered by the thought process." We're living in Catch 22.

Next we'll have to jump on one foot and sing the national anthem to get our eggs and grits in the cafeteria at 1 am....

I think this whole M&G thing is a bunch of BS. I also called for a fellow aviator and was told to call back next month. I just dont see how they can keep up with the hiring #'s if this is how we are going to get our interview candidates. I am just happy none of this was going on when I was hired or I would not be here for sure. These days its almost like winning the lottery.

For you guys that are lucky enough to get a M&G........count your blessings!! I cannot imagine the pressure of going in there and trying to put on the show just to get a shot at an interview.

Life is not fair too. With that, at least the company is getting a pre-screened product(At best, if you can trust the screeners (sponsors)). I can understand ones poor opinion of it though. A good loyal (Never leave for another airline) applicant can be screened out simply by not knowing anyone, whilest an average joe with no loyalty but one who knows someone can get hired. Time will tell though when airlines recall , others are hiring and weak and whinny people get tired of three leg nights begining at 9 PM and ending at 6 AM. There is more to life than a paycheck!

Had the same problem. Called but couldn't get an appointment. Need to try back in mid April.

Really tries the patience. I definitely prefer the "old" "system".
