I got mine today! I interviewed on the 25th/26th of Jan. What can I say, of course I am not going to give up. I am not sure what area was not satisfactory, I felt the least confident about the how the panel interview went. I know that anyone waiting to hear does not want to read a thread like this, but we have to be realistic. Congratulations to everyone in the pool, my hats off to you all! I will see you in 12 months.

W.

Got mine today as well, and just like you I think that the SBI was my weak area. I'm surprised though that it would take them that long to get a rejection letter out.

Man, I am sorry. That hurts. I'm at 2 weeks today and was feeling pretty good that I've heard nothing yet. I guess right now, that doesn't matter. Anything with your background check they may not have liked?

The word civilian? :) :)

Sad to hear guys.

Sim 5 weeks ago today...still hoping, waiting. etc.!
You're baggin' me! (STS) Any suspicion as to what the hold up is? Most guys that interviewed the week after already know.

Sounds like a STS needs to be in there somewhere!
No idea what the hold up is. Nothing but a few traffic tickets in my past. No DUI, FAA issues, etc.

(ADDED: "So to speak" to previous post) forgive the oversight.

sorry to hear guys....some say they are targeting guys with heavy glass experience...so you may have had great interviews all around..who knows...good luck to you..

Got the bad news today also. A lot of waiting and I thought I was out of the clear at nearly 4 weeks. For whatever reason my package wasn't right this time but I will keep on trying for the paydirt.

Yeah, Kim Daniels does a lot of her calls at 0300 central time. And oh, by the way, it's all done by FedEx letter and not calls right now.....

Thanks PC,

I thought UC's post was kind of strange. :smash:

Cheer up guys! Some of us [Like Me] never got a call....even after 7 years on file. Good luck and don't give up.

I understand the heavy glass time to a certain extent if they are looking for the RS of the Mad Dog but how much is the question? Although not as long as some others I'm in the heavy glass business now.

People are way too hung up on this heavy glass thing. They're looking for quality of flight time, period. An F-15 in neither heavy or glass. Do you think they're going to start rejecting all of those guys? Nope. FedEx, as well as every other airline worth a dam#, is going to continue to keep their pilot force diverse. It has worked since it's inception and there's no reason to change now. If a guy went through the entire interview process and didn't get the job, it had nothing to do with some sudden revalation during the panel interview that he/she didn't have any heavy glass experience. You would not have been invited to interview if, on paper, you didn't seem like a good prospect. They don't want to waste their time any more than you do.

Besides, glass is easier than steam gauges!

A friend of mine just got the pool letter. He interviewed on Jan 11/12 and received notification of being in the pool on Feb 25. He has 8000+TT with 3300+ CRJ. He is a regional captain, a former line check airman, former piston freight pilot and former Navy enlisted to boot. Out of the group of six guys that were a part of his half of the interview group, five have received pool notification and one guy hasn't been heard from since the inteview. It is assumed he received the "thanks but no thanks" letter. The other four guys in his group were all notified on the same day; exactly three weeks after the interview. The four that received notification in the third week, received phone calls. Each of these guys inquired about a class date and each was told to expect a letter in March for an April class.

I know of a few guys that interviewed on or about Jan 22. One is in the pool and one got rejected. These guys were both notified via FedEx letter within two weeks. By this, I assume they are no longer calling individuals that have made it to the pool.

If it has been more than two weeks and you haven't heard anything, odds are in your favor. Remember, no news is still good news until you hear otherwise. Additionally, don't believe anything you hear until it is painted purple and sitting on the ramp. :)

What time zone are you in? Just got the pool letter on Feb 25th? Exactly 3 weeks after a Jan 11/12 interview?

Whale Rider:

Do you have any internal LOR's or a sponsor?

For those of us waiting to hear....it means dont count your chickens....till ya got ya some chickens....or something like that.

The first bold area refers to my friend, who was notified some 7 weeks after his interview. The second bold area refers to the majority of the guys with whom he interviewed. They received notification at 3 weeks. I'm in the Mountain time zone and even though the air is thin, I thought it was clear. :D Have a good ride!

Whale Rider and the meet-n-greet

Whale Rider said:
Yep, got 3.

Whale, ask your stongest recommendation to take you in to meet his or her aircraft specific Asst Chief Pilot or the Certificate Chief Pilot. This "meet-n-greet" as they call it can assist you greatly.

After the "meet-n-greet", you may be put into that chief pilots "folder". If you make it into that folder, then you're competitive with the pilots within that folder. Once you make it to the top of that folder, at that time your file and resume are sent to the interview board. The way to make it out of that folder is to follow the instructions of that specific chief pilot. Depending on the particular chief pilot, he or she may seek monthly correspondence from your sponsor and that may keep you in the the top third of the file. Then your experience will dictate your ranking within that third. Each month, the chief pilot's have been submitting 6 or so resumes to the interview board for interviews. That "6 or so" was back when they were hiring 30 a month. I'd imagine that number of monthly recommendations has doubled since they now intend to hire 70 pilots per month. Regardless, you should ask your stongest recommendation to "sponsor" you in a meet-n-greet. I think that will get you out of the list of 11,500 or so applicants and into a file with about 100-200 pilots.

Maybe that will help - Godspeed. I hope you're flying something big and purple soon.

Sorry about the bad news for the first posters. A friend of mine recently wasn't hired so I went in to the girls and asked about it. Though they wouldn't give me specifics about him they said that 80% of everyone who doesn't get hired is because of the SBI, and almost all of those are for two things; either not making a decision and briefing it in the allotted time or letting one of the crewmembers talk you into changing your decision. There is no right answer. They just want to see your decision-making process and resource utilization. My buddy changed his decision. Good luck next year.

Calling at 3 AM? Whats up with that? If she were to call me during my time off at that hour she'd get hung up on!
