delivery of packages. Candidates work an average of 17.5 to 40 hours
a week. Pay rate is $14.50/hr. General Requirements

driver's license; able to lift 75 lbs. and maneuver packages weighing
above 75 lbs. with appropriate equipment; successfully pass all basic
and recurrency training; demonstrate good human relations and verbal
communication skills; and maintain a neat appearance.

Pay close attention to the Offer Letter -- it will contain terms of employment, specifically the Length of Service required before you can apply for another job in FedEx Express (as in, Crewmember). The Company minimum is 12 months - - often times the letters will add another 6 to 12 months onto the initial commitment. If so, try to negotiate that time down to 12 months. Grovel, beg, promise to be the best courier the station has ever seen -- whatever it takes.

Then, keep your nose clean. Learn the standard practices, and use them religiously. Hustle like there was no tomorrow, but don't break any rules. Don't get a ticket, don't get in a wreck, don't lose any packages or miss any pickups. Volunteer for extra stuff - - Safety Rep, whatever - - you'll want the high recommendation of your manager when it comes time to apply for another position.

Don't forget to keep flying - - recency of experience is still important, and make sure your tickets are up to speed when the time rolls around.

Oh, and then be prepared for the pay cut when you get the pilot job.

I was actually already out of the military and trying to find a way to get an interview with FedEx when I applied to every and any job they had available. So I finally got an interview, was placed in the pool, and I've been there for quite a while now.

I posted the email I received the other day from FDX more for fun, but that WAS the plan when I applied to for that position. I guess it was not as clear as I thought that this was a joke. Sorry TonyC, but your advice was very good.

I'll leave the comedy to Albie...he's better at it anyway.

Well besides the poor attempt at being funny, I at least got FedEx on the top page again...many many times over.

I was actually already out of the military and trying to find a way to get an interview with FedEx when I applied to every and any job they had available. So I finally got an interview, was placed in the pool, and I've been there for quite a while now.

Well, shucks. That's what I get for not knowing who's in the pool!

I retract my Congrats, and I'll copy and paste the advice for somebody else later! It's too bad you didn't get the courier job earlier - - you might have been in one of the classes that started last month!
