Does anyone know about this accident? Seems that it happened on the 29th Oct.2014
The Aircraft was a SH360 owned by Skyways Enterprises.

Sadly both the Capt. and the FO/AP mechanic and the logbook were lost!
The water around SXM on the Caribbean Sea (West) side is very deep!( in excess od 5000ft. as surveyed)

So we'll never know what happened, but clairly there were other issues that lead up to this, with the same aircraft, at the same airport the day before.

Crash: Skyway Enterprises SH36 at Sint Maarten on Oct 29th 2014, impacted waters shortly after takeoff

A Skyway Enterprises Shorts SD-360 on behalf of Fedex, registration N380MQ performing flight SKZ-7101 from Sint Maarten (Dutch Antilles) to San Juan (Puerto Rico) with 2 crew, was climbing out of Sint Maarten's runway 28 when the aircraft lost height and impacted waters about 2nm off the coast (end of runway) at about 18:35L (22:35Z).

Rescue and Recovery services located one body, the other pilot is still missing. Coast guard believes they found the first officer's body between Mullet Bay and Cupecoy.

The FAA reported N380MQ crashed after departure into the water, there were 2 persons on board, one was fatally injured, one unconfirmed fatally.

I think I used to fly that plane for Simmons airlines out of ORD years ago.

Yup..I did for sure..it was one of the last ones delivered before I left..I was Marquette based...Spanky's...yeah baby!!

Same time frame buddy....5 star meals in 7-sewers at ORD, steak night at Sky McFly's at CIU...drinkies at Tin Lizzy's...the good old days indeed...
 
Fond Memories of the Irish Concorde

Indeed! Learned a lot. Flew with some great Captains. I sincerely wish them the best. Took a road less traveled. Very non traditional career after Simmons, but I learned much during my year there. Always grateful to the captains who took time to mentor. I've tried to carry that forward.

I was based in Detroit but we may have flown together. Either way, fair skies and favorable winds!
 
Apologize for hijacking this thread with all my best to those involved in the loss....but yes I learned a lot as well. No autopilot,no auto thrust, non pressurized,no map display! My god how did we fly 6 leg days during the winter all with approaches down to minimums and half of those NDB's! I remember some crazy times(people)there. Booze in the cooler going to the hotel etc....
I flew the last 360 out of ORD no revenue to Raleigh during a ********************ty day. We collected so much ice on the way down there we had to keep asking ATC for lower as the weight increased due to the ice accumulated so rapidly the boots couldn't shed it. Listening to the blades sling shards of ice in to the side of the fuselage....kaboom! Full power keep truckin!
After that I was supposed to go to the Saab and eventually did. They lost me for four months......with pay. I can still see the secretary who called me at home who's first words were "there you are we found you, you have a class date"
The Marquette boys were a unique bunch for sure. I remember making a take off from ORD early in my career when initials "KM" pulled an engine to idle with pax to see what I would do. I seem to recall a remark something like "your ok good here's the engine back" I laugh now but can't imagine doing that these days. I have more like that too.
