I got a call from a FedEx captain in memphis yesterday and he said that he was helping out with the recruiting. he said he had my resume and he would like to ask me a few questions. he asked who i was presently flying for and if i was presently flying. then he mentioned who i had as refrences and asked if there was anyone else that i knew....which there was, then he added notes with those names and said he was going to pull my online app. did anyone else get a call like this this week and does anyone have any idea what this means? i'm thinking it must be something good but i was wondering if anyone has a timeline for what might happen next and how long it would take. thanks for any info.

Yea, first time I have ever heard of anything like that before but stranger things have happened. Sounds like you won the lottery, they just pulled a random app out of the pile...FedEx version of 'Fair and Balanced' I guess.

Good Luck!

Speaking of "fair and balanced", has anyone else heard this:

I've now heard two ACPs say that the 'number or recs requirement' has gone up from 3 to 5.

I posted the same thing like that a couple of weeks ago but people hadn't heard anything.

Dugan,

Do you have any minority status?

Pilot recruitment (ie. KD) has had some captains making phone call inquiries for them with pilots who were met at conferences. These pilot candidate names didn't come through the ACP/RCPs.

seefive-
yes i met KD at a job fair a month ago and i am a minority. i also had 2 check airmen walk my resume in and i have 3 other recomenadtions in addition to those 2 and my father is a line mechanic for fedex. during the phone call the guy that called didn't know about the 2 check airmen or my father working there but he said that he was putting it on my resume and that was very good stuff. he kind of left it as i'll be pulling your app off the computer but i really don't know what that means.

I'm thinking you're right.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that if a CP calls you and you've not even been on the property...that's good.

On the other hand, if a CP calls and you are on property.......not good!

Hey Dugan,

It sounds like you're in good shape. Don't be surprised if someone else calls you from the recruitment office as well. Be patient too. I'd be if everything is inline application wise, you'll get an interview. My friend got a couple of those type calls and he met the recruitment folks through OBAP. I think that was in sep and he interviewed in jan.
By the way, I called my ACP after his first call from the captain with FedEx recruitment and the ACP knew nothing about that call/program. I called KD and she told me what was up. Also, my friend is now in the pool.
Best of luck!

Yup. Two ACPs have told me its now up to 5 recs. Again, that is for the regular-joe applicant. I suppose if one of your recs is Fred Smiths golf buddy or an ACP's best friend, well you may get by with 3. But for the other 95% of the applicants...

hey seefive thanks for the info, yeah thinking about things the initial call must have been because i met KD at the job fair and that must have been the resume the guy that called me was looking at. hey what is an OBAP? i think i'll just patiently wait and see.

Dugan, what is your minority? Please don't tell me Pacific Islander, I tried that and got busted big time. Also, are you flying the 727 now or the little 170? Finally, flying the 170, I assume you are Shuttle/Republic, do you know the Capt. that is upgrading the hotties to first class?

hey optimator how did you get busted for saying your a pacific islander? my father grew up in the phillippines so i think that i technically am a minority but who knows. yeah i'm flying the 170 and who told you about the upgrading?

My mother is from the Phillippines as well, and I have dual citizenship. Who knows. About the upgrading thing, I have a friend in the higher ups at Republic Airways and he said he overheard B. Bedford discussing it.
