Just talked to JL, and he had on his desk a 300 Widebody Captain and 300 Widebody FO bid. He also said that he is planning on 500 newhires in the next 1 1/2 year.
Good luck...

Sounds great...but....300 captains and FOs across 3 years (if that is the case) really isn't that big of a difference than the 100 captain bids every 10-12 months. We'll just have to see the effects once the real deal is published.

Albie,
You are right, 300 over 3 years isn't really that big. But he didn't say anything about 3 years, we will have to wait to see the time frame.
I was in his office inquiring about a buddy that I recommended last year and got the dreaded letter, well his year is up and I was talking to Kim D. and asked her if he can re-apply and she said that decision would have to go thru JL. So when I was in his office he said that there wouldn't be a problem with him re-applying but that he is "Very busy and wouldn't have time to do the meet-greet, but to schedule one with another ACP, he said that he was too busy with Negoitations and this 300 CPT / 300 FO widebody bid".

A380 on Bid?

If the three year timeframe is correct then the A380 will be on the bid. Man, get in on the ground floor and you'd be PDO bumped for the next five years!

Heard rumors that this Mother of All Bids (MOAB) might impact new hire training dates. Anybody on the inside hear the same thing?

I know someone who just interviewed (Jan). KD and AM said if they get the "you're hired" call, they might not be in class until April. I don't know if these are related. Just what I heard.

meet and greets to continue in feb..20 new widebodies coming in 2006..enter huge bid...there are a few meet and greets going on now but they are being done to show new guy how to run them...still talking new guys flying the Deathship POS MD-11..got that MEMTRASH...JUNK!!!

Any input?

From a bud in the latest class...expect one more class this coming Monday, then no new-hire classes until April so the dust from the MOAB can settle.

JL Email

Quick summary...he discussed passover pay, maybe paying for folks to move to ANC, over 60 guys (geezers as he called them), bid will be in mid-February, European domicile within a year..probably for the Bus, size, length of the bid is still TBD, follow-on bids for clean up will happen, LAX flying to remain the same. Was just trying to answer some of the questions fellas/gals had emailed him.
