Any Fed Ex guys now how long it would take for someone who wanted the right seat MD-11 in ANC to get it if hired this summer. I hear there is a seat lock as a 27FE for one year. Does anyone live their that can give me some insight. Thanks

There isn't a seat lock but you have to wait until the next bid. I'm riding sideways and there are junior people to me in the 727 FO seat. All that means to me is "Pay Protection" on second year pay. I was hired during this last round and I should be awarded 727 FO on the next bid which is rumored to occur in Feb/Mar - but who really knows?
The only way you get passover pay is if you bid the seat in question and someone junior to you who bid that same seat in the same domicile on the same bid gets checked out first.
Since you just got hired, the bid last spring is n/a. If you bid 727 F/O in the bid that supposed to happen early next year, you will get trained in seniority order. The people already in the right seat that are junior to you don't trigger passover pay in this case. They have to be awarded the seat on the same bid as you.
If I got any of this wrong, someone jump in an correct me. Thanks.
How does it look for sending newhires to Subic Bay? If someone takes the A300 in subic and then transfers to LAX on the MD are they seatlocked for 24 mo?
Hoping to get to get to make these choices one day....
I assume the 777s are going to be MEM based?
Thanks,
Scott
Adler,
Most of what you wrote was correct but I am currently on second year FO pay as an SO. I am getting passover pay because some of the folks in the class behind mine were awarded Boeing FO seats that were not offered to pilots with more seniority (the prior class). The only requirement to allow the passover eligible folks in my class was to have Boeing FO on our standing bid preference at a percentage we could hold - 100%. This all happened prior to our first eligible bid (the infamous MOAB). With the large numbers of classes with both FOs and SOs positions being offered, I suspect the company is paying a lot of passover.
Merry Christmas
