Has anyone seen / Does Anyone know the Specific Details of the Fed Ex Move package to Anchorage as it applies to New Hires with the company?

1. Is the move package mandatory for those that are based in ANC?

2. Does the move package come with a specified time to serve in ANC?

3. How much money is involved with this package?

Thanks!

Noob to the site.. swimming around like a lot of others.

1. No, the move is not mandatory. You can still commute to ANC. To qualify for the package you must move your entire family there within 18 months of being activated into your crew position in ANC.
2. To qualify for a return move you must stay in ANC for 3 years.
3. One round trip airline ticket for the spouse to and from ANC (the expectation is that the pilot can get there on the Jump Seat) for a house hunting trip. First class will be provided if the flight is 5 or more hours. Business Class will be permitted if the flight requested does not have first class available. Sorry, hotels, food and rental cars in Anchorage are on your nickel.

Full household goods relocation up to the limits contained in the contract (16,500 pounds) plus 2 cars.

Storage of the household goods you wish to move at the departure location or in Anchorage for a maximum period of 90 days. This may be of help if you are selling your current home and need to vacate before you can initiate the move to Anchorage. On the other hand, you can move your goods to Anchorage and put them in storage there while your new place in ANC is being prepared.

Hope that helps out. Looking forward to you joining the seniority list below me in ANC.

That's a pretty sweet deal. Do you have to live in ANC or within a certain driving distance from ANC? Would a move to Juneau be covered under the package (would commute on Alaska)? How 'bout Seattle (again, would commute)?

Cheers!

The move must be to a location within 100 NM of the domicile.

Road miles or air miles? I've always liked the Kenai peninsula, but there are places there that are not within 100 road miles that are within 100 air miles.

Thanks for the information!

Have a great day.

It does not appear to me (NOT a lawyer) that you will be paid to move up to ANC as a nugget based on information gleaned from the current contract.

First Crew Position

No benefits are payable to a pilot for relocation to his first crew position with the Company, except as provided in Section 6.E.1.c. (new hire assigned to FDA).

Foreign Duty Assignment (FDA)

An assignment of a pilot to a base outside the United States, or its territories, designated by the Company, for greater than 3 bid periods.

The ANC LOA only said 100 NM. The contract has, in one sentence only, the word radius when talking about relocation packages. My guess is that the intent is radius. The legal folks would probably have to get involved in clarifying the "intent" of the LOA.

8. I’m a probationary pilot but I’d like to participate in this deal. Am I covered?
Yes, so long as you have first been activated in your crew position in ANC. We need to know you’ve been through training successfully before we go to the expense of moving you and family to Anchorage

This is copied directly from the Q&A letter that came out with the LOA. IMHO the move package will apply to new hires once they activate in their crew position in ANC.
