Saw on another board that Cheever is on his way to subic to scold the boys for not flying any extra...they are supposedly parking jets over there..any truth to this?

What is the move package to Subic?
Do any of the pilots live in a compound there or are they scattered to the wind on the local economy?
How many pilots are based there?
When is it supposed to move to Guangzhou?
Is FedEx building a housing compound in addition to the hub?

Just trying to make an informed decision should the opportunity present itself.

hey start your own thread..i want to get some info on my question...

That was the talk on F-street. Apparently one guy approached another about a Draft trip he was going take. He wrote the guy a check for $3200 bucks on the spot and said "here if you need the money so bad take this" The guy apparently ripped up the check and didn't take the trip.....all just heresay... but apparently everyone is very family oriented in Subic right now, and jets aren't always moving. Also, I was told June is Family Awareness month system wide...........

Sorry skipper.....your thread was getting no love for quite awhile and nearly faded away. I was just trying to keep it on page one.

Don't worry, CapatainMark has more that enough love for himself that he doesn't really need anybody else's

Mark, before thid deteriorates into a spat, lighten up and relax. it's just in fun, like you say.

SFS is a really tight knit group and hats off to them. I think EVERY crewmember is in good standings except maybe one pilot. What can Cheever do? Stare them down and try to intimiadate them? Good luck. Follow the contract, fly the contract and your covered.

What I heard (rumor of course, take it for what its worth) is that the pilot accepted a Draft trip and got an earful from his brothers so he ended up calling in sick for the trip. I didn't hear anything about a check...but who relly knows.

And yes, I plan on spending lots of time with the family in June...I hope others will do the same.

i was just messin...i have done a few trips over there..pilots live all over...commute from the states..other countries and live in subic..they have housing over there for the crews if they want it...if u are single it would be a lot of fun..married with kids, u better ask some of the crews about schools and such..think twice on that one...best flying in the system though...i enjoyed the few trips over there...no typhoons...clear skies..great massages (at least that is what Memtrash tells me)...oh sorry memtrash is on 5 weeks vacation....hey dojetdriver...i'm relaxed!

Here is the story I heard,

That they are not flying OT or draft and they had a airbus that needed to go somewhere. Subic made a taxing airplane return to the gate, or they held the push........something like that, then Crew scheduling was patched in to the cockpit to try to draft a jumpseater who was the last guy. He refused the trip and they cancelled the flight.

I had not heard B.C. went over there. That is interesting

I am currently in Airbus training and ran into a couple of Airbus instructors at the school house that are heading into SIBA training to go out and augment the Subic boys. hmmmm.Interesting.Goose17

The Anchorage boys did it a few years ago, now it looks like the Subic guys are stepping up. Wonder when the Memphis guys will take a stand for the pilot group? It's our turn to do just 100% of our job!

uhm...no...nothing official...but I think a lot of guys have DECIDED to enjoy the family in June and try to rest up for the stress of what could be a long, tough fight. Taking the time to reinforce those family ties in June is just a good investment in keeping them on board during some challenging times ahead.

Nice to see those instructors step up to help the company out of a jam. Am I wrong to assume that they are all 8% B fund type guys?

Well, I'm sure you can show them the error or their ways. Lead by example no VLT,M/U,C/O, stay home as much as you can with the wife and golf clubs in June.

I like the 100% effort that was brought up recently in the A.O.C.

Simply fly 100% of your schedule.........spend the rest with your family!

Rode a J/S with Subic dude home on vacation two weeks ago. He told me that nobody over there is flying extra, and that it's a small enough group that if someone does fly extra, all will know and all will give said pilot h***.

Just heard from my buddy in Subic. A lot of guys boycotted the Cheaver meeting, but 17 or so did show up. He didn't know if the 17 included MD guys, or spouses, but in general, some SFS guys boycotted. He also told me an f/o was offered his reserve days dropped to take a draft trip, and the guy said no. The Chief Pilot had to do the flight or it was going to cancel.

They aren't doing c/o over there, either. We all know it takes time for your schedule to finalize before c/o activites are dropped, and in that time frame, he got some crap about it. Give it some time to finalize!! But the pressure was there in advance.

At least they are doing it right somewhere.
Funny how the lines with 40 hrs of carryover go first in mempho.
Team me.

I don't understand why C/O is such a bad thing as long as you are protecting Min Days the following month? Since I am junior, if I can get some C/O it usually helps me hold a line I might not normally be able to hold the following month...CIC, crappy trip dropped.

Now...I have seen some guys NOT protect Min Days and end up having a HUGE following month but with practically NO days off...whats up with that???

If you have a 6 day C/O trip for the 1st week of May, and your line for May has a 2 day trip the first week that conflicts, what is the difference between protecting min days vs not? For min days protection, will they automatically drop the 2 day trip the first week of June or selectively drop another trip during June? I'd rather do the 2 day vs. the 6 day, but it sounds like the only way to do that would be trade the C/O trip or drop it when the open time window opens. Any advice?

The company will drop your 2 day trip (Carry In Conflict) and then drop another trip(s) to give you at least min days off. IF you have a long trip that conflicts with min days off then it will be dropped as well (with pay) and you will be put in SUB, sometimes a good thing sometimes a bad thing. Just depends on how much you want to risk, the schedulers can get creative at times.

C/O is overtime flying at straight time pay and the company loves it. Get rid of C/O and they would need to hire more pilots and build more lines for each AC type. Both good things for the line guy!:)

Then you should push for PBS with the new contract.

Only if you do not protect min days. How in the world could you logistically build schedules with our complex routes without C/O?

I personally don't have a problem with C/O. What I do have a problem with is pilots bidding big C/O trips and then working a full schedule the next month essentailly having 0 days off. If you want to do that then want until the contract is settled.
