IB6UB9,
Wow!!!!! To much time on your hands? Why aren't you hunting? How's the golf game? If you ever want to get your As. Kicked, give me a call.
Huck

Is it just me ...or did "FedEx" sign out as "Huck"? And if so why?

Does he have two handles? Or is he Broke-back and using his partners puter?

Wow. Capt Mark is no more.

I suggested he come back with a new name and a new attitude. He has a few things of value to contribute...if we can just loan him a cup of humility in the meantime.

Godspeed Mark. Play nice...

What happened to CaptainMark?

As far as all this contract 'stuff' is concerned. If collectively "we" decide not to work, the air freight won't move. Federal judges, dumbya, or ole Freddie Smith himself can't get the boxes flying if we just simply don't go to work. Fine us, lock us up, threaten etc; but if we don't go to work, the freight won't move. We possess the power, we just won't use it.

Illegal, yes, but seriously who cares. The imposed rules are not fair or just, so don't expect my actions to be either. If you never go to the mat, you'll always just get the scraps that the rulemakers decide to throw at you.

Time to set this barn on fire and see what critters come running out...

and what happened to CaptainMark?

Wow...

I have my problems with Cpt Mark, but....

Did the powers that be just make him disappear?

I'm also seeing every thread that discusses the new payment plan disappear as well.

Whoops! Since I mentioned the whole payment thing will I disappear along with this whole thread?

It's time to take this back to where it started (ie pilots sharing info with other pilots) rather than let it become a money-making machine for owners.

I've heard that the APLC forums are pretty much the same as here but with fewer members. After a couple of months of not letting new people view or post this place will be a ghost town.

Edited for a stupid typo

have some faith......i am doing my part..i tell all my buds that it is so easy to go into VIPS and put yourself on the "do not call" list...in fact i have never sold a vacation back in 11.5 yrs...i will be taking july and august off completely...see ya in sept...

Hey Captain I agree 100%. You are the man in my book.
I have a question and want your learned input. Next month I have training due. If I do my training on days off (extra pay) and don't protect min days off (10 instead of 13) is that OK? or is that doing extra for the company?
What do you think? Would a good Union guy do that. I just want to practice what I preach.

Dude, protect min days off.

Bid whatever you want but make sure that the company gives you the days off that you bid.

Protect, bid, whatever....enjoy your summer time off! Go grill some hot dogs or burgers and forget about the company for a while!

Two different Hucks...this one has a bad golf game.

Mark started another thread saying "bye bye". He was stung by folks being critical of his perceived attitude. I think he went in and delete his own farewell thread as well as removing his avatar.

I may be wrong, but I think it was self-imposed vice the webmaster.

On his "farewell" thread, I made a comment that any guy who worked hard enough/got lucky enough to end up a widebody Captain at a major in his mid-thirties certainly could contribute some good info and suggestions on this board. I also suggested he come back with a new screen name and a bit less arrogance and try again. For those that care, I also suggested he try starting his thoughts with capital letters.

In any case--his suggestions on how to spend our summers were spot on.

Is what you do when no one is watching. Applies here as well. Any rationalization can be used. One doesn't need to wait for the "union" to tell them something. You need to take personal responsibility for your actions and make a decision for yourself. Self discipline means taking your snout out of the trough before someone tells you to. Decide for yourself what you want to do. Personally, I live in Memphis and don't fly extra....my marginal hour off is worth far more than my hourly rate at time and a half.

Great post. The union can't come out and say anything until we are in self-help, so it is up to the pilot body to say two years have been too long and I'm not doing anything extra. Waiting until peak 2006 is too long. Get this thing done now and then guys can fly AVA, draft at a new payrate for peak 2006. It seems like the guys who still do this have a lame excuse why they are doing it. It comes down to the fact that they are selfish money whores. These are the same guys that never buy a round of beer. Show some self-restraint, bypass short-term gain so that there can be long-term gain for everyone.

Rant over.

Both Capt Mark and Otto Coarson(sp?) had individual Good Bye threads which criticized both the people here and the administrators. They were both deleted within about 10 minutes of being posted, not long after Albie had replied to Mark...I'm sure by the admin folks, not themselves. As you can see, they've pretty much been erased.

As usual these things drift aimlessly...the original thoughts are important to those working at FDX. The SFS guys spoke volumes, sent messages, caused ripples, etc, to the folks who schedule freight to move. It had to start somewhere small or it would not be noticed or effective. There are 10 times those numbers doing the right thing every day/week/month in the MEM domicile. The system is just too big to see the effect. Nice job to those SFS pilots!!

WoW!!! He must be good!!! BTW, how did you find that out? Did he he ever mention he was a "widebody captain for a major airline"?

the company had to Learjet 2 MD11 crews

Actually it was three crews.

One of them ripped a buddy of mine at the F street for making so much money instructing TDY at the Anchorage sim. My buddy found out later that guy was sitting standby on draft and was on the bizjet from MEM (it was Challenger, not a Lear.)

BTW, there are two Hucks - I am Steve, I just use Huck as a handle - it was my callsign in the late eighties at Edwards (I evidently talk funny to them out there....)

Reality check. Look at MEM MD-11 open time for Capt and F/Os. Forget ANC, LAX, SFS. They can do all the "100% flying" they want. All the company is going to do is call MEM to fill it. Never knew that cost of living was so high in MEM.....

Oh and by the way, though I agree with Capt Mark on this issue, I think in general he is a sanctimonious a$$ and usually can see his comments in my mind being printed out and passed across a negotiating committee table, or worse yet printed in the commercial mullet wrapper.

Mark, do us all (and our reputations) a favor and keep your trap shut for a while.

Amen brother. If you can't read between the lines by now than I seriously question where you received your 4 yr (required) degree to work here. Time to start showing some accountability...that means 100% of your schedule and NO MORE.

Always, always , always protect min days off...that includes training months and carryover...ESPECIALLY right now. Just my .02 since you were asking.

Do you enjoy working at half pay? Because that is what you are doing if you do not protect min days off and do training on a day off. Are you willing to work over 6 hours for a lousy 3 hours of pay?

Jt8d

JT8D,
The reason I signed my post with "Huck", is because that is my name!!!!!!!!!!! I wanted IB6UB9 to know it was me. Thanks for the observation.
IB6UB9, anytime you are ready to get your as! kicked, let me know. I am in JFK for the weekend, are you on a trip? Next time I will bring my sticks and go play Bethpage, would love to play the Black course. Getting ready to head to MSP, Hazeltine, for the member guest.
Give me a call
