FDX May class

Just heard from a friend that FedEx will have one more class this fiscal year May 3rd. Also saw from another thread there will be 11 folks.

Has anyone heard about calls going out yet?

Heard from a very wise bird today, the calls for May class (there will be 11) will be going out VERY shortly. Every attempt is being made to give as much prior notice as possible. Some folks in the last two classes were called on short notice, but from all the smiling faces, I don't think anyone minded. Also heard there would not be any more classes in May, only 40 total were funded thru fiscal year. But I'm guessing the pool will be drained this year, with 20-40 new poolies as well. Just my opinion.

This is another example of FedEx not having their stuff together. Short notice for classes? There's only 50 in the pool and they can't figure out who to call when? And the lack of info from the hiring department. FedEx does not give a hoot about their people, just the boxes.

Tough response. I do not know the full story behind the doors of the hiring department, so I cannot defend nor attack.

Since you sound educated in the area, please elaborate.

Well, the gouge I have heard is that the pool will be drained my the end of the year and plans are to replenish the pool with some new blood. There have been some previous post about this including some information from pilots being called to the training house to conduct the interviews.

Progress is being made in the right direction that is for sure, and as such the rumors are proving more often than not, to be true. Let's just hope this trend continues.

As far as not taking care of their people by giving only a few weeks notice, it may be true, but the bottom line is they will not have a shortage of folks willing to walk through the door. Such is the case in this type of market. Besides after ten years in the military and a year and half Fed Gov, I am quite used to my employer not giving a rats ass about what is convenient to me.

How far in advance does one recommend arriving in town?
Where should I stay until I can hook up with the class and look at the crashpad notices?
Any suggestions on what sort of supplies I might need to bring?
Clothes for class?
Apple for the teacher?

Holiday Inn Select - - Democrat & Airways
Highlighters, index cards, and note-taking materials
Interview attire on Day 1 (ID photos), business casual thereafter.
