Just wondering how the first day went for those of you who finally got out of the pool and started class at Fedex today? Give us an update when you get a chance.

What's the deal with the gaps in the seniority numbers of the last two classes?

Class

Class was great, some great folks at FedEx.

The 12 Apr class is set and there will be a 8-12 poolie class on 3 May, after that its unknown because 31 May is the end of FY 04 for the Co.

31 total poolies on the property by the end of May.

May be more classes in May, every 2 weeks or so 10 per. Will find out more in May.

Well worth the wait,

Hang in there everyone

Not sure what you ment by Sen # gaps?

I may be wrong but....

Pro IP's have been trained in 727 stuff and just need IOE. Corp types may be senior but have to complete full 8 weeks of training prior to IOE.

Note: Seniority determined by SSN, not date of hire or age. So, you may have a corporate guy number 1 in class, pro IP numbers 2 and 3, corp number 4, etc etc. I would expect those pro IP guys (especially if they are 727 trainers) to go straight to line and IOE.

Been wrong before...will be again...

another rumor

Just did my sim proficiency check ride today. My standards S/O check airman said what they are hearing is a gear up for good hiring. He said they are hearing 15 per month through the end of the year.

Also talked to a guy going through DC-10 captain upgrade. What they were told in class is that we are pulling 8-10 DC-10s out of the desert and getting them prepped. He said apparently Fred is predicting an upswing in the economy and he wants us ready.

More planes, more pilots... good juicy rumors.

Skipped Seniority Numbers

There were some corporate pilots in the first Internal-hire class that started, got their seniority number, and then went back to fly for Corporate until they can backfill their position. They will start S/O training later (and have more dudes/dudettes below them).

What a sweet deal THAT is. . . ride that horse until second year pay!!!

I figured it was something like that. Thanks for the info.
