Even though one of my friends has done the walk around on his current plane for 15+ years, he became complacent and overlooked an item. This oversite will earn him a warning letter in his file. The plane had come out of mainenance a month earlier, and this item had been overlooked in over 40 preflights by several different crews. In response, OneSky management has chosen to , once again, make the pilots the fall guy for a maintence oversite. I have to agree, the pilots were partially to blame but a warning letter in a pilot's file when the company wants to reduce it's pilot ranks seems counter productive to helping them find another job. So, what is the real purpose of such a harsh responce? The only thing I can recall is when the company tried their intimidation campaign.
