FAA medical in foreign country

Just wondering if anyone has taken an FAA medical exam, from a FAA approved doctor in a foreign country? And if you did, would you again?

Got a first class physical in England

I was stationed in England with the AF last Summer when I got the call for an interview. My first class was set to expire in a month or so, so I wanted to get a new one to avoid any problems (my schedule only afforded me time to go over for the interview and come right back). So, I went on the FAA website and found an AME in the very village I was living in. He was great--not much different from the one in the US. Good news was I didn't need an EKG. Bad news was the price--like everything else in England about 50% more expensive than stateside.

My experience was good--no regrets and everything turned out great. Hope this helps...Good luck and Fly Safe.

I lived in Spain for a while and I used to go up to Madrid to an FAA qualed doc there. The medical was about the same price, but the train ticket up there was costly. All in all, they are accepted just as they are from a doc here in the US. Most of the foreign docs doing it have spent time in the States where they got their FAA certification.
