I am looking for some advice from anyone who has lost their medical in the past and got it back. I am in the early process of getting my first class medical back after waiting the 12 months after surgery required by the FAA.
I am debating using a service offered by Pilot Medical Solutions (leftseat.com) or going it alone. Pilot Medical Solutions appears to be a reputable company, however, the are asking approximatly $1100 for their services. Has anyone used them or recommend them?
If you went it alone, I would be interested in learning the process you went through, and whether you would do it again.

Thank you for any advice or comments.

I had a medical taken away for some meds i was on after a surgery as well. Anyways, it took 3 months to get it back. I wasnt flying proffesionally at the time but wanted to get it back so i could finish up one of my ratings. Anyways, all i did was call OKC and talk to the AME down at the office. He typed mine up and sent it that day.

Getting the Medical back

I went it alone after undergoing chemo for cancer.
I just copied everything related to the incident and sent it in to OKC. Also included a statement from the treating doc. You might give OKC a call to understand exactly what they need.

A close friend also lost his 1st class after a heart attack and quad by pass. So don't give up hope.

If you need help you might check out Virtual Flight Surgeons in DEN.

Good luck. I know how naked it feels not to have that medical.

Don't forget to at least call the AOPA. They have some knowlegable people there who can give you good advice.

They helped me get my ducks in a row when I had a medical issue on my last physical.
